Where is the microphone jack located on a HP w2338h desktop? Every time I plug the microphone into the jack on the monitor the speakers stop working. I've made sure they are both enabled.

Check the speaker icon on the Youtube video player. If you hit the speaker icon by mistake it will mute the volume.

Have you checked the sound settings in Skype? Usually skype lets you to set your sound equipment individually rather than using the windows general settings.

Especially if you have onboard mic. Try the call settings sound options in skype and check to see if it is working.

I have a Pavilion dv6-3025dx and cannot get the sound to work for skype. Obviously there is a camera and that works fine but I could not get the audio to work - do I have to add a microphone. Can you help?

I understand that you are not able to us the microphone with Skype. As per the information provided in User Guide for the model it seems that the model has an Internal microphones .

Try configuring the internet microphone to use with Skype.
Open Skype - Tools - options- Audio settings- Set the input device as internal microphone and check the operation.

The sound stopped on everything and i dont know why no sound on itunes or youtube or facebook or skype

may be it caused by sound driver, reinstall sound driver

I had this program when I bough hp laptop but I guess after one year later it stopped working and my camera's on skype and chat any program involved with cam don't work! what can I do?

If you are using skype
open skype go to tools from the drop down list select options scroll to audio settings make sure the microphone is using the same as your computers audio
you can make a free test call if you cant get the microphone to work you can select learn about setting up your audio equipment or
control panel sounds and audio devices audio and also voice it

Ive had my laptop since christmas 2009 and the webcam always worked on webcam companion and skype and all and like last month it justt stopped working is all gray on the companion and is black on skype...

try to re-install the drivers of your web-cam.

My Web cam is not working. I used it to Skype last Sunday. I then tried to Skype yesterday and it did not work.

Microphone just stopps working out of the blue

try this on both computers:

first solution:

go to start

control pannel

sounds and audio devices

click on audio

make sure that a mic is selected.

second solution:

double click on the small spkr icon at the end of ur taskbar

make sure ur mic channel is enabled

Its a youtube issue,seems no...
or a chrome issues, sure is.
well why not do as wife does
easy no
or learn how to use chrome, (i avoid it like plague. i use FF)

It may be your sound mixer's input sources settings or even youtube's own volume/mute control.

you have to check both (with youtube running check the mixer) also see pic for youtube control circled in red

My audio doesn't work in chrome either despite the volume up in chrome/youtube player and he mixer. I ill look into this and get back to you
