My microwave keeps blowing the fuse upon hitting the start button

I have a "Magic Chef" microwave, Model No. MCD1611ST, it quit running completely while I was cooking some food. I put a new 20amp ceramic fuse in it and it lights back up, but after you set a new time and hit the start button it blows the fuse. It did this twice. What do I do at this point? Microwave is no more than 3-years old.

I would make sure the High Voltage capacitor is not shorted.

You have one of three problems (H.V. diode shorted or leaky, H.V.capicitor shorted, or the magnrtron tube is beginning to draw excessive current)if thats the case its not usually worth spending that for the mag.,the other two items aren't that expensive

My microwave doesn’t stop heating after the timer goes off. It’s a Magic Chef MODEL NO. MCD1611ST

Sounds like you have a door switch that is sticking. The part for this is #DE96-00414A. Microwaves should always be worked on by a professional for safety.

Magic chef MCD1611ST microwave, the display lights up, the time and powerlevel can be set, the light works when the door is open but when i hit start everything shuts off. Any suggestions?

There are a lot of possible causes, but I'd look at the door switches first, and the wiring connectors to them. Make sure the contacts on all the switches are opening and closing.

Magic chef mcd1611st fuse keeps blowing when door is closed

Only time I have run into that problem, there was a bad micro-switch for the door. First thing make sure that you un-plug the microwave. You will have to take the outside cover off and look for a series of small switches mounted on a frame where the door latches. If you have access to a multi-meter you can check the switches for continuity. Easiest way is to remove that frame making sure that you mark or write down what color wires go each switch and then remove the wires. It may be immediately visible which switch is bad but if not check each switch with the meter. Your contacts will be a common terminal and either a normally open (NO) or normally closed terminal (NC) and sometimes both. The "NO" terminal will not have continuity until you press the switch button, the "NC" terminal will have continuity all of the time until you press the button. If you do not have any continuity at all or if you have continuity on one terminal no matter which way you push the button, that will be your bad switch. Hope this helps.

SOCKET GOT POWER BUT NO DISPLAY

There is a fuse inside that is probably blown. If you replace it and it keeps blowing the fuse when you open and close the door, that means a problem with the door switches sequence. I could run you through that step by step.......
