I have a pair of Infinity Overture 3's and on one of them the red light is on but no sound is heard, silence, no humming or buzz. Any suggestions.

Possible shorted speaker wiring or a shorted voice coil in one of the speakers.

By chance do you remember the value of the resistor that is needed?

I have no idea what the value would be. Read the colored bands
on the resistor and Google it. I really doubt that's the problem though.

How do I eliminate buzz?

Things to check:
1. With your multi meter, measure from left ground to right ground. What do you get? Measure from each input ground to chassis. What do you get there.

2. Get or make a pair of shorting plugs. Plug those into the inputs. Power on. Hum there or gone?

3. Turn the pre-amp on. Connect. Level of hum change with preamp on?

4 additional information. How efficient are your speakers? This is a big amp, high-efficiency speakers may show some noise, while low-efficiency speakers won't.

A trip back to the shop may be indicated, too.

This is a 3-way speaker; specifically which speakers do you hear something from and which speakers do you hear nothing from? If the woofer amplifer is blown, for example, you will hear nothing from the woofers, but will hear sound from the midrange speakers and the tweeter.

Why does the red light click to green without the speakers on?

That system responds to signal input, ie an electrical signal present on the input, in order to turn on the internal amplifier. If it is turning green without any input from the source, it could require service. It may be responding to static electricity...

The speaker should go to sleep after ten minutes or so, turning from green to red again.

I recently switched to the comcast phone service from ATT. I have a structured wire set up. I also kept an ATT land line so I'd have a telco line in an emergency--like an earthquake. On every phone in the...

Assuming you have 2 line phones, what happens if you swap lines? If your structured wiring is the 568B standard, which is the most typical, the second line must be punched down to the white/green pair instead of the orange/white pair for 568A wiring. It sounds like the second line may be daisy chained in the panel so you have to see how it's wired and troubleshoot from there. Sometimes a pair is connected to a power supply to provide power for a phone or light but that's not typical any more. Sorry I can't be more specific but if you have more info or photos of the panel and jacks I'd be happy to help further.

Iassume you mean you hear the buzz independently of the audio program - simply connecting the cable causes the buzz?

If tanything in the mix is powered from different AC sources you may have a different ground potential. Sometimes manipulating the orientation of one or more ac plugs will solve hum problems.

Infinity 2 overture speakers- 1 wasn't working so I replaced the fuse. Now it works but doesn't have the same sound output as the other. Any suggestions?

Verify that the bass levels are set the same on each speaker. If they are and the problem occurs on all program material, you most likely have a bad driver or amplifier in the speaker. One other thing to verify is that the balance or output levels of the left and right main speaker outputs are set equally on the receiver.

Good Luck,

Buzzing intermittent

It sounds like the ice maker. If you don't have the water hooked up, and the ice sensor bar is in the down position, the ice maker assembly will attempt to make ice continuously.
Solution is easy: raise the ice sensor bar until it clicks in the up position. It will lock in this position, and the ice maker will not cycle anymore.
