Hello Briankt69,

Ot two issues, First the AMP is going into a protection mode this means that it is drawing too much current. As netrecov said you need a capacitor, this will oppose the rapid current draw, by allowing the voltage to remain constant. However I would also sugget that you rewire the setup to manufatures specification and make sure that all grounds and supply leads are installed properly. Taking into mind the the 4awg wire has less cross sectional surface than the 2 or 0 AWG wire causing it to have more resistance this is power loss in this case (follow the specifications).

I hope this helps

Thank you,

SOURCE: my Jbl mono amp cuts out

It's likely that the amp has blown output transistors. To eliminate other possible problems, read through the following page:

Amp Going into Protection Mode

Let me know if you have any other questions.

SOURCE: Just hooked up fosgate bd1500.1 to 2 JBL gto series 15" subwoofer

Your current alternator is strained and cannot give the required current draw of your amp. Most aftermarket amps have exterior fuses. Try adding these up for a round-about current draw number. I would bet that your amp is killing the availible power from the electrical charging system of your car. You could always go up to a higher fuse, (I run a 200 amp breaker) bu this will only make your stereo work and your alternator fail prematurely. Try searching ebay or go to ohio generator for a stronger output alternator.

Why does my inline fuses keep blowing on a jbl gto 14001 amp

You need to calculate the amount of amps being driven through that fuse + the amount you need to feed the amplifier.
In my Volvo S40 and V70 I had no problems driving an amplifier of the rear power connector, but on my Honda S2000 however I had to create a different connection all the way to the battery line for a smaller amp (connection as in cables, condensers/filters and fuses).

The easiest way to explain it would be for you to go to the following link. http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/woofer_wizard.asp?submitted=true&woofer_qty=2&woofer_imp=3
On one side of both woofers positive (+) and negative (-) are connected together. Then you will need to hook the remaining + terminals together and go to the + of the amp. Then you do the same with the - terminals. Hope this helps, please let me know if you have any questions on it.

My subs cut out everytime I hit a bump.

I would say the wiring, in particular the earthing for it, also check any "Compression" fixtures.and check ALL joints etc. To be sure give the actual Amp a gentle tap, and see if that brings on the fault.

Hello srolson,

When electronic components are brand new their tolerances will allow more variation. Once you get down to a 1 ohm load, the actual impedance may vary somewhat below what the amp is capable of handling. Maxxing anything out accelerates how quickly it degrades. When new the amp can deal with putting maximum power into a minimum load, but as the components heat up and wear with age, the tolerances change.

Hope this helps.
