Make sure that the printer driver you are using is compatible with your version of windows. If so, open all printers in "control panel" and make sure that this printer is the preferred printer and not an old one you might still have installed.

Hello.
This can be caused when the internal circuitry of the printer is "scrambled", it can happen in a storm or surge and simply after age.
Unfortunately there is no quick fix other than getting a tech to have a look, but that can be more expensive than a replacement.
You have done the trouble shooting for us and ruled out a cable issue.

A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by
resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer
from your computer (if USB connected)> reboot your pc > unplug and
re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns
on, reconnect it to your computer (if USB connected). Then try to print again
once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection or when the WiFi light on
the printer turns solid green (if WiFi connected.).
