Why does my orion portable player say open when the cd player door is not opened

try to dismantle the unit and check the rubber belt on the motor

try this:
Press setup on the remote
Use the arrows to navigate to Prefreneces (pref)
type 9 6 5 3
Select Region code (press down arrow to set to 0, open for all codes)
Press setup again to exit

the cd drive should have a tiny hole under the drawer. push a small screwdriver into the hole and it will release the drawer.

It sounds like the belt that opens the try is getting bad and beginning to slip, a common problem on CD players like this. You should be able to find a replacement belt online.

Glass door and cd clamper operated by same motor belt and mechanism,remove l/h sp. grille (2 screws) and this mech is easily visible.
