Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent inkdrying out in the print head nozzles. If the print head cleaning maintenance routine does not clear the blockages,then print head needs replacing, but it may be expensive. It may be more cost effective to buy a later model and better printer thanreplace the print head.
The gray-colored arm (it's not that small) is to the right of the cyan cartridge. It is the arm or extension of the gray-colored hinged cover. Remove all ink cartridges, lift the gray-colored arm up, and pull the print head out. Clean the print head with a cotton ball soaked with water or rubbing alcohol. Dry and re-install the print head.
It sounds like you need a new print head. You can find them online for around $75.00 each. I've had very good luck with Precision Roller. Do a google search for "canon mp610 print head".
The print head is clogged.Try unclogging with cleaning process in maintenance mode.If not help you need replace the print head.It's part number is QY6-0067
Make sure the contacts on the carriage assy. where the printhead sits are clean also. If your printer is still under warranty it will be repaired free of charge, if not, it sounds like you may need a new printhead. The part number for the printhead is printed on one side, it's always a qy6- number followed by 2 sets of 3 numbers each.
