Was watching netflix no problem thru the ps3, last night went on to watch and came up with sign in the psn, before you can use netflix. so I tried and doesn't recognize!

There could be a number of reasons why. You could reset your Netflix app, then sign in again. You can try deleting your Netflix app and downloading again. Or it could be Netflix is down and no one is able to access it. I have had this happen. Make sure you are signed into PSN. I'm not sure if Netflix will work if you are not signed in. I hope this is some help. I know the aggravation of not being able to get on Netflix.

Unplug your router for about five minutes and turn off your PS3 and unplugg it for about five minutes as well. Sometimes its a cache problem.
If this does not work try setting up your DNS address manually on your PS3 under Network settings.
Change your primary DNS code to 129.250.35.250 and your secondary one to 129.250.35.251

Typically, this issue is resolved by logging into Netflix via PC and making sure the log in information matches the info on the PS3. Also, be aware that the standard package for Netflix allows only 2 devices to access Netflix from 1 account at the same time. For example, if you are watching Netflix on your PC in 1 room, and someone is watching it on a PS3, then you won't be able to access it from a Smart Phone or other devise, until 1 is disconnected from Netflix.

Goto settings date and time and tell ps3 you are on daylight savings time. Then delete Netflix and reinstall.

PSN was down last night for system maintenance, but was back on at around 20:45. Have you tried signing in to PSN today?

1. The hum you hear is probably the heat-sink fan, sometimes if you get some compressed air and use it in the bottom air vents it will go away.

I just want a little more info on the Netflix issue. Just to confirm I'm on the same page as you.
When you are trying to use Netflix are you using the PS3 web browser or signing into PSN?
The reason I ask is that in order to use Netflix on a PS3 you have to sign into the PSN with the email aand password you would use to play a online and the download the Netflix program from PSN, after install would then choose the Netflix icon and then use the sign on info required by Netflix. If you have done all of this, try doing a factory reset on your modem/router. I run Netflix on my console too and with the PS3 you won't need a authorization code to access your account.
