Check your programming. It sounds like you have chosen a code number in one radio and the other radio has code turned off (zero).

SOURCE: my customer has 6 motorola max trac vhf radios.

If this is a new install, it is likely noise from the vehicles electrical system scrambling the processor of the radio. Put a filter on the power leads and check your install.

SOURCE: 18 miles max range but actual it can transmit and

The reason for this is due to various possible conditions. The first being obstacles in the operation range of the unit. IE> hills buildings trees ect. This can greatly reduce the actual distance the unit will work in. The 18mile max is probably a rating that would apply in the best opt. scenario. You would have to be on a flat terrain with no hills or valleys,no trees or buildings for the unit to reach the max distance. In dense areas of trees, buildings or uneven terrian you wont even come close to these distances. Second: any unit RF unit that is held in your hand or close to your body does cause the antenna to detune to various degrees the amount that it does depends on how well the unit has been designed. The more it detunes the less resonated frequence is recieved and amplified making for a weaker signal. In conclusion for the best long range reception be clear of as much surronding interference as possible and as high a possible above any elevated terrian

SOURCE: my motorola MH230R radios won't

Try to clean the contact point of the antenna of both the transceiver. There might be a foreign object which clog the signal to be fed...if the problem still exist. The possible reason is one of the transceiver has a defective amplifier circuit...

Talkabout MH230R does not Receive or Transmit on channel, can just Transmit (only clicks when Recieve) when programmed 2 channels higher (i.e. all radios on 5-3, one is on 7-3)

Strange. Could it be any of the radios are from different countries? The channels are not worldwide. For instance, Canadian radios are on different frequencies than USA radios. They look identical.

One of 2 set Motorola MH230R isn't transmuting ring or voice, but receiving is fine. All settings the same. What's I am missing?

Check your batteries. Transmitting (Tx) takes more power than Receiving (Rx). Also, check to see if you have the Qt filter turned on, if so, turn it and all other special features off (zero) and try using the radios in a very basic mode. If you cannot Tx or Rx with good batteries, and all special features turned off, you have a problem with one of the radios.

Mh230r

Your radio is possible stuck in transmit, or has an internal issue. If you can get it into programming mode, check your programming. Also you might try trading the battery with a known good unit to see if it is simply a battery issue.

Mh230r

Take the radios back to a very basic setting with all special features turned off. If the radios have a Qt filter check to see it is turned off, and set your Code to zero (off) on both units. Also, check to see your battery is good in both units. Trade the battery with a known good radio to see if the problem moves to the other radio, is a simple test.

Won't transmit

First I would check the interference code on both radios to see if it is set the same. It is possible you have one set to zero and the other set to another number. This would cause the problem you describe. The interference eliminator is designed to block out transmissions from radios whose settings do not match it.

If all your settings are identical, and you have only 2 radios, it is not possible to tell which one has the problem. You either have one with no transmit or one with no receive. The only way to tell which you have is to get a 3rd radio involved, set to the same settings.
