SOURCE: morphy richards jet stream iron

We have a water filter and softened water. Our iron is clean and went after 2 months.
A Morphy Richards Jet Stream Elite pro.
It is just the steam generator that has gone.

SOURCE: How to use the calc-clean button

Calc-Clean function
The Calc-Clean function removes scale and impurities.

To do so, set the steam control to position '0', set the temperature dial to 'MAX', and fill water tank up to the 'MAX' level. Then heat up the iron until the pilot light on the handgrip goes out.

Remove the mains plug from the wall socket and hold the iron horizontally over the sink. Then press and hold down the 'CALC CLEAN' button.

Move the iron forwards and backwards while boiling water/steam squirt from the holes in the soleplate to wash away impurities/scales.

When the water tank is empty, heat up the iron to dry it.

Finally move the iron to and fro on a piece of cloth to dry the soleplate. Repeat the process if necessary

SOURCE: DG-980 Iron: The button to use the steam is stuck. I was ironin...

Hi Mary, sounds like something jammed in the trigger mechanism or the microswitch button is stuck in the housing. Unplug the iron, let it cool. Gently pry up the blue cushion from the handle from the front towards the rear cord, you will see the trigger, the actuator tab and the microswitch button (nib) that should be sticking out, if it is flush with the housing it is jammed down. That switch is replaceable, but I don't know how savy you or your appliance servicer are at replacing it. Here is where I get my parts:

California Electric Service in Concord CA (it is the only Rowenta repair station in California) go to either of the following addresses:
their website is: http://www.californiaelectricservice.com/
or tech service: [email protected]

Please keep us informed as to your progress resolving this...

I've been given a Tefal Pro Express Care Iron but I can't remove the Anti-Calc collector.

Question edited for clarity, it is a 'Tefal' not a 'teal pro'.

If it breaks, you can buy another, but descale the inside with CLR or a proper descaling solution.

We have a GC8420 steam iron. The steam is regularly discoloured, first a pink, chalky stain - very difficult to get out of fabrics - and today a lot of dark brown/black water coming out. We do empty out...

Hi, Brown water and whitescale are often the result of the water you use in the iron... If you have scale, white vinegar will clean that... For brown water, empty the iron, rinse out the insides with bottled water, and then use the bottled water instead...

I have an bosch sensixx b5 iron and the calc clean sign keeps flashing what can i do .i have lost theinstuctions

Here you have how to solve this issue. It has been obtained from the device's manual.
2. calc'n clean The "calc'n clean" function helps to remove scale particles from the steam dispenser. The iron includes a system to warn when the dispenser needs periodically cleaning. When the "calc 'n clean" symbol lights up on the navigation display the dispenser needs cleaning. Fill the water tank. Plug in the iron and select the temperature setting . After the necessary warm-up period, unplug the iron and hold it over a sink. Position the steam regulator to the "calc'n clean" position and keep it in this position. Gently shake the iron. Boiling water and steam will come out, removing any scale or deposits that might be there. When the iron stops dripping, position the regulator to the position. For improved descaling, heat up the iron again fully and press the steam button several times in quick succession. Then wait until the remaining water has evaporated from the soleplate of the iron. Once it has been cleaned, the cleaning warning must be cancelled on the navigation display. To do this, simply press and hold the on/set navigation key for more than 5 seconds, with the iron plugged in. If you do not do this, the cleaning icon will remain lit. 3. anti-calc The "anti-calc" cartridge has been designed to reduce the build-up of scale produced during steam ironing, helping to extend the useful life of your iron. Nevertheless the "anti-calc" cartridge cannot remove all of the scale that is produced naturally over time.

Philips Azure self-cleaning steam iron

philips do not have a manual for this iron online, sorry contact them if you want; http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?sct=IR_STEAMIRONS_SU&cat=HOP_IRONS_CA&grp=HOUSEHOLD_PRODUCTS_GR&session=20070313063306_83.37.63.254&ctn=HI296/54&slg=ENG&scy=GB The best way to clean these irons is with neat vinegar - try to get white vinegar and you have less smell to get rid of - fill the iron, give it a good shake and leave it overnight, then use the iron as normal (use it on a kitchen drying up towel or similar) then leave it for another few hours/overnight and then empty out any remaining vinegar and rinse through with water a couple of times. this normally solves any problems caused by limescale - if not then just leave the iron a little longer with the vinegar, also try to pour a little vinegar into the steam vent holes with the iron upturned and leave for a while. Hope this helps :)
