There are three possibilities, the first is a bad magnetron that heats the food,"common problem" next the high voltage capacitor and diode do fail on occasion, the cost to repair may equal the amount of a new one.
Sounds like a bad magnetron, i would replace the magnetron, Capacitor and Diode at the mag assembly, to be honest it will cost you more to fix than a new one.............
Sounds like the Magnetron has stopped working. The Magnetron is is a specially designed powerful magnet that generates the high frequency microwave energy used to heat food.
This model is a lower-end type that probably didn't cost very much. Since it's over 2 years old, you have no warranty left. Most appliance repair shops charge extra $$ for servicing installed items in the home. You'd probably be better off purchasing a new comparable model. The labor fee alone might equal what you paid for it.
I have a Magic Chef model MC0160UQ. Within 2-3 minutes of heating food it shuts off completely for about 5min. Also, when I select the low fan it does not work, however the high fan works. Please assist with these issues if possible. Am I able to fix or adjust the magnetron myself since it may be overheating? or what should i do?????
