My Gateway NE522 laptop screen went black.I can't adjust the light level. I hooked it up to my 46" sony by HDMI and it works fine. is there a backlight or inverter for this model NE522 ? Rick

since the self generated menu displays ok id say you don't have a monitor problem , could it be that maybe somehow it got switched over to maybe an "open" input port (example: hdmi-2) as this would explain things a bit , also when you tried the other tv did you use the same cables to connect it as the non working tv ? as that also would explain things

First, make sure your TV is on the appropriate input for the plugged in HDMI cable. Once this is completed, turn your ps3 on. If the screen comes on and is black, turn the ps3 to standby (red light is on) and hold the front power button until the console beeps a second time. This will usually force the ps3 to recognize the hdmi input and will bring up the menu to configure the AV settings.

I had the same problem, stuck in a hotel room for 2 days. When I held down the button, next time I turned it on, I got the same prompt with using HDMI output, said yes, and screen went black. However, a screen then came up asking if I could see the image or not, but it has a 30 second time limit before it saves those setting, you have to click "No" on this screen, and it will drop the resolution to 780p instead of 1080 and it should work! Make sure you're paying attention so you don't miss the screen!

hold the power button down to reset the ps2 the reson your screen is black is it is still set to hdmi. hold the power button down, it will reset to default and you can adjust the settings from there

try setting the frequency down to 60hz and the resolution before you connect. then if it works you can set it up again with a setting the TV likes

why hdmi input wont show up

I have a similar problem. The Sharp TV aquos appears to be shutting down my blue ray player and dvd recorder when connected via HDMI. They work fine and never close down when I connect them via the rca cables either single video connection or a composite 3 cable rca lead. I have 3 HDMI inputs on the tv and the problem occurs on all 3. Any suggestions?

sounds like ,audio card went died or mite be screen has shorted out try hooking it up an orther screen and see if it boots up if so either viedo screen card or screen it self

Most likely a defective Main Board. I suggest calling Sharp 1-800-237-4277 to locate your local Sharp Authorized Service Center.
