Quiet partner II is stuck in cancel/drain mode...

We have a Whirlpool Quiet partner II, about 4 yrs. old..
When I push the start button the cancel/drain cycle begins...will run in this mode for about 5 minutes then shuts off...try to start it again, same thing happens,,,cancel/drain mode begins.
tryed to get any of the other modes to work, will not accept the cycle which I select, goes back to the cancel/drain mode again...
please help !! frustrated in Ma.,,,dishes are piling up quick.

It sounds like the control unit has gone bad and you will have to replace it...the replacement is not very hard, just make sure to mark the wires so you get them back were they belong on the new unit.
