I have a shower head drip and replaced the cartridge in a single handle American Standard shower valve. After reassembling I still have the drip, looks like even more constant.

Be sure to pull the plunger all the way up when diverting the water between the the tub and shower if ti keeps giving you a problem it's faulty

I think fitting of your shower is not proper. You have to fit it properly if you can or you can call a nearest Plumber to solve your problem.

Deltas can be either cartridge type or cup and spring type; both are easy to repair. Try to operate the valve several times full range and then shut off. If the problem is caused by a bit of trash in the valve assembly, you may be able to work it out with the problem solved. I have gotten away with this on several occasions.
If that doesn't work, cut off the water to the shower at source block valves, if you have them. It nay be necessary to shut off the water to the house at the water meter. Drain down the house side of the water supply at the lowest point, usually an outside faucet or flush the toilet, Gain access to the valve inner parts by removing the handle (single handle faucets usually are attached with an allen screw on the underside of the handle, removing the chrome escutcheon and the wall cover plate. Slowly and carefully remove the inner piece and look for any apparent damage. If yours is of the cartridge type, it is easier to simply replace the cartridge. If it is the cup and spring type, repairs involve changing out the bad components. I suggest that you place all of the parts that you take out in a plastic baggie and carry them with you to the parts store, or one of the big box stores, where parts should be available. Reassembly will be in the reverse order of the tear down.

I just spent a week wrestling with a similar problem, and I'm posting in an attempt to save someone else an ulcer. Using a Colony single-handle valve, the temperature got so we couldn't control it. Either all hot or all cold. I called A.S. and they sent a new pressure balancing cartridge and new valve cartridge. Replaced both and then there was no water at all coming out of the shower head. Tried every possible combination of old and new parts, flushed pipes, etc. Finally took the shower head off and found it completely clogged with debris. It was a mix of sediment and the white grease that was in the new cartridges, which must have been displaced when I started messing with it. And it clogged it all at once (no flow problems before all of this). Works fine now!

Assuming the cartridge is new and the water drips at both hot and cold settings, I would check your shower head. It is not uncommon for debris to collect in the screening there and clog the spray nozzle.

To check the shower head you'll need to remove it from its piping. Use two tools--I normally use an adjustable wrench and a strap wrench--to hold the wall pipe and simultaneaously turn the shower head counter-clockwise. The cresecent wrench grabs the hex-head of the shower head, while the strap wrench holds the chromed piping without scratching it.

Be sure you don't lose the rubber washer inside the pipe-to-shower head connection!

Once the head is removed, look inside it at the pipe side. You should be able to see into the mechanicals of the shower head--very often I'll see bits of rust or scale. Oftentimes its enough to rinse the pipe side of the head under a sink; in extreme situations it can be easier to replace the entire shower head.

To replace the shower head, use two tools in the same manner in which the head was removed: crescent wrench to turn the shower head, strap wrench to hold supply piping. This time, however, turn the shower head clockwise until it tightens snug.

Hello. These faucets use a replaceable cartridge valve and when they drip they're ready for replacement. Remove the handle by loosening a small screw ,usually with an allen wrench, and maybe another nut under it.The cartridge should pull out but mat be stubborn. Take the valve with you when you go shopping there are many variations.

You need to pull and replace the cartridge on your shower valve most likely. It varies by Make and Model, but generally, remove the handle, remove any sleeve around the center spine, remove the round trim plate, close the service stops, remove the retaining clip or ring, and pull the cartridge straight out of the valve body by pulling on the spline... or get a cartridge puller. Then take your cartridge to the store and get a new one. Flush the valve body by slightly opening both service stops and then install the new cartridge and reverse the process.
Generally this problem occurs when sediment has torn part of the sealing o ring on the cartridge. If you send me the make/model and/or a picture I will give you the specific instructions

Make sure the drip is continuous because the shower head will drip for a few minutes until it empties out. Replace the cartridge or washer kit if it keeps dripping.

the problem is in the shower fitting the part with the handle ,depends on who made it but you replace washers or a cartridge some times easy some times not

You may have debris caught in the cartridge. I'm not sure which faucet you have but if it utilizes a ball, there is a retaining ring that is either grey or white that you have to tighten. If not, I would recommend contacting American Standard. You might have a bad cartridge or missed replacing another part. Sometimes they have small round washers at the back of the housing that need to be replaced as well.
