SD cards have a slide switch along one edge.
The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.
First of all, the 4GB card will never be able to work in your camera. Check on its face. It likely says SDHC, and SDHC cards as this format came out after your camera was designed (I know it looks exactly like a normal SD card, but it's not).
Now the 2GB card should work with your camera as it is a standard SD card. Remove the card from your camera. Look on the side of the card for the tiny slide switch, and slide it to the other "unlocked" position. Reinsert it in the camera, and see if that corrects the problem.
SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.
Look at your card to see if you may have broken the small tab off from the locked side. I noticed that my card looks different and I may have broken it off not knowing.
the card actually inserts looking as though you are placing it in the mobile upside down. It will locate and lock into place. To remove after wards simply press in and it will jump out. Easiest way to put music on it as mp3s is to copy them from a pc and then put the card into the mobile afterwards
Get another battery - it is possible the replace is stale/old/dud.
Check the cleanliness of the contacts on battery and the camera, a light polish with tissue- sometimes if the camera has not been used for a with a slight patina of dirt/corrosion will build up to prevent contact.
