When connecting wirelessly, I have noticed that my previously secure network connection is now unsecure. How do I change this back so that my wireless network connection is secure?

How do you know that you are connecting and there is no security? There first thing to check is the router settings. You should type into the browser 192.168.1.1 (or whatever you have configured your router's IP address for). Enter the user name and password for the router. On the next screen you will notice a link for wireless settings. Click this and on the new page check the bottom section that says "Wireless Security Mode". It should be set to something other than "none". Post back and let me know what it is set to.

You might also want to try 192.168.0.1 for the router ;)

It is asking for an access code to an access point . What is that?

Wireless networks can be secure or unsecure. Anyone can connect to an unsecure site simply by searching for available sites and choosing an unsecure one to connect to. There are inherit risks associarted with unsecure sites and you should NEVER do any financial or highly personal transactions on an unsecure network. Secure networks require a password (access code) to complete connection. This code is provided by the owner/administrator of the network. If you are allowed to connect to such a network, you should already be aware of the code. Otherwise you are basically not invited to the party.

On my D-Link Dir-825 Wireless Router, can I change my wireless networks name without having to go around reconnecting all the computers in my house afterwards

If your network is "unsecure", which means no pass keys will be provided by client computer when they connect, then you can do it. Just change your SSID from your router's admin interface and your connecting computers will recognize it as a new network and try to negotiate connection. If there is a passkey, then the connecting computers will be prompted for a pass key (though it is an old pass key) since they recognize it as a new network.

How to remove a network/signal?

Connect to the unsecure network, either directly with a cable, or connect via wifi. Once you are connected, open your web browser and go to:

http://192.168.2.1

There should be no password, just hit enter, then you can change the SSID and/or channel, etc.

I pulled the instructions from Belkin support:

HI! to secure the dlink wireless network, u need to access the setup page of the router, pull up a browser and type in at the url:192.168.0.1 and it will ask the username and password, by default the username is admin and password, just leave it blank and it will show the setup page, on the left side select on wireless settings and manual settings, you can select any option here on what type of security u will set. once setting is done u have to save the settings.. once done u have to connect ur wireless computer to the secured wireless network that u create it will ask the password and connect

Excellent Wireless Network Connection, cannot access internet

The unsecure public network nay be using mac address filtering. In this case, the network will show as being unsecured, and will even allow you to connect in some cases, but then will not allow you to surf once connected.

D-Link Wireless Router DIR-625 unable to connect with D-Link DWA-130 adapter

Sometimes the security settings will only let certain MAC addresses connect to the network as well as the password protection. Make certain that yours isn't filtering out MAC addresses.
