When installing screws into used components, gently rotate the screw backwards until the threads on the bolt go past the threads already in the component, then start to gently turn the screw in the tightening direction. (the reason is: you do not want to cut new threads, as this will damage and remove the current thread material, and the hole will be too big as a result)
Put a small amount of lubricant (oil, thread oil, ect) and proceed to tighten the screw(bolt).
In this case 11 ft lb. torgue

SOURCE: stihl chainsaw 066 died

mr siegs
remove the muffler and look inside the cumbstion camber and look at the piston.if you see marks (score) on the piston the piston and cylinder are bad and need to be replaced.this is caused from a lack of lubercation to the cylinder, possible water in fuel, spraying starter fluid into the saw,bad oil to fuel mixture, old fuel has no lubercating value.any more questions please feel free to contact me

SOURCE: Stihl model chainsaw chain oiling rate

If correctly set, the chain will throw a light, thin line of oil off of the tip after running a short time. Set a piece of pasteboard at an angle for a target.

Will a 56mm cylinder kit fit a 064

http://sawparts.ca/products/stihl-064-066-ms650-ms660-big-bore-cylinder-kit-nikasil-56mm

It seems that YES a 56mm aftermarket cylinder is available for the Stihl 064. Looking at the kit you need to just replace Cylinder, Piston and rings, bearing bush and clips. Worth also replacing the base gasket too.

Repair piston rings

Remove the cylinder to expose the piston and rings, the rings should be lose around the piston, they should have a break in them so they can be removed and squeezed in to fit back into the cylinder

Stihl 066 does not start. Replaced ignition module. Weak or no spark.

Are the poles on your flywheel blue? Are you using an open-air inline spark tester, or holding the plug against the cylinder and turning it over?

066 stihl, have all screws out but can't split case.

Assuming all screws are out, intake, exhaust and cylinder, oil pump and all oil pump related items are removed Screw the clutch carrier back on to the crankshaft (this protects the crank threads) and tap the crankshaft with a brass hammer. (TAP not Whack.) The tapping should loosen the 2 halve of the crankcase. You must replace the crankcase gasket.
