Just plugged in my new True T23 freezer, and it won't come on. Any ideas?

A surge protector for a freezer is a good idea. To conserve energy? On paper it looks good but seriously only real savings are on bigger equipment.

Clicking like this is usually a problem with the compressor start device. They are prone to failing and the overload protector is cycling to hopefully protect the compressor from burning out. If the start device is a solid state device if you remove it from the compressor it should not rattle. If it does it is bad and will need to be replaced. Installing a new strat device should get it back up and running.

Have him check the t'stat. And freon lines. I believe the t'stat is the problem. Are the door gaskets ok and does it seal properly when closed. The fan should always run, so this could be in the rewiring. I am assuming you will be working out of a freezer where the working temp is a little higher.

Thermostat or start relay is defective and causing the compressor and fans to run all the time. Here is a manual for all models=> HERE

Sounds like your control switch is going bad. Good thing you have the quick freeze button. You may want to go ahead and replace it. The whole thing will go out soon. This is something you can replace yourself.

Check the defrost timer (in the base, circular knob you can turn till it clicks) If it doesn't heat up rapidly in the evaporator, there is a safety overheat device (thermistor) that may be cutting power to the heater, or there may be a fault with the heater itself. Are you sure the fans are working, and the condenser grill is nice and clean?

Give the evaporator a chance to get cold, then check you've got power to the fan, via the evaporator thermistor and door switch

I wouldn't think this is right. If that is the case, it is not holding the temperature well then.

Please check your thermostat setting. It should be at middle or a bit cooler in setting.

Check for freon leak>> is compressor running?
