It sounds like the sensor connection where you plug in the buttonhole foot is bad.

SOURCE: How do I change the stiches?

You can do all of these stitches by using different combinations of your stitch selector, stitch width and stitch feed knobs, for instance, on the panel I can see on your machine:

http://www.jo-ann.com/joann/product/images/52659.jsp?CATID=cat3122&PRODID=prd11333

Stitches 1, 2 & 3 are straight stitches, centered, left and right. Really basic stuff, not different stitches at all. 4,5,6,7 & 8 are zig-zag stitches of different widths. 9 is the widest zig-zag (no. 8) on a finer stitch length, etc...

I think you should try and get an instruction manual for your machine. After a lengthy search of my usual manual sources, I've determined that that this may not be so easy. I think you should contact White on their 800 number and let them try and help you... 1-800-331-3164.

If you found this helpful, please vote generously as I receive nothing other than acknowledgement for my time.

SOURCE: Singer 7462 buttonholer

generally most sewing problems are due to sticking parts because of non usage as =you have stated or because the tension has been not set right. what I suggest is that you take the time to do some cleaning of the machine like what bis pointed out in your manual use a light weight mineral oil to wipe the moving parts with, but not too much. also adjust the tension of the foot so there is pressure on the material as to move it while sewing. after all the cleaning and adjusting rethread the bobbin and make sure it is seated properly also rethread the need and make sure the thread moves freely from the spool. this should do the trick. please rate this

It sounds like the feed mechanism needs oil.

On my Pfaff quilt expression 4.2 the knee lift is not working

It sounds like you're experiencing an issue with the knee lift on your Pfaff Quilt Expression 4.2 sewing machine. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue:
  1. Check the knee lift lever: Make sure that the knee lift lever is not obstructed and that it is properly positioned.
  2. Check the linkage: The knee lift mechanism is connected to the sewing machine via a series of linkages. Make sure that all linkages are connected and not broken or bent.
  3. Lubricate the knee lift mechanism: If the knee lift mechanism is stiff or difficult to move, try lubricating it with a sewing machine oil.
  4. Check for loose screws: Check for any loose screws or bolts that may be causing the knee lift mechanism to malfunction.
  5. Check the foot control: Make sure that the foot control is functioning properly and that it is securely connected to the sewing machine.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, it may be necessary to take your sewing machine to a professional for repair.

Can i use a walking foot to make a buttonhole on my 320 alna sewing machine

I don't see any reason to use a walking foot for sewing a buttonhole. The purpose of a walking foot is to move the top and bottom fabrics together. Feed dogs sometimes tend to move the lower fabric faster than the top fabric--a walking foot helps prevent that.

If you don't have a buttonhole foot for your machine, you can still stitch a buttonhole using a different presser foot.

Pfaff 2144 using sensormatic buttonhole. Used before , worked fine. Now wont pick up bobbin thread on first right side of hole but sews left side perfect. Tried stabilizer Sees reg stitches fine

Be sure to use a brand new needle. A dull or damaged needle will frequently skip stitches. If the problem continues, it could be out of time.

Hi can’t make the button hole big enough using the special one step Pfaff foot . Won’t go bigger than 8mm

It could be that 8mm is the limit for the buttonhole foot. You can try making buttonholes manually with the sewing machine. Not really difficult. Just need to be careful marking the buttonhole and stitching. Recommend practicing on scrap fabric before trying it on the project.

Pfaff expression thread broke half way through button hole. How do I complete the buttonhole?

1. Change thread/needle.
2. If the bottom stitch is loose then tighten the top tension. If the bottom appears to be too tight then loosen the top tension.
3. It may help to put the feed dogs down also.

Sensormatic buttonhole attachment foot connected but message on screen says to remove foot.

Sometimes the sensor has a smudge or lint on it that is disrupting the sensor. You might try cleaning it. If it doesn't occur with any other foot, then it is probably an issue with the foot itself.
