Thread breaking is normally caused by tension being too tight or by incorrect threading. If it is loose and jiggly, it isn't tight. Maybe your bobbin tension is too tight, and your top tension is far too loose.
you might try a can of computer air to clean out the lint and dust, it's a good idea to clean under the needle plate also.
what problem did you have with your Janome?
This could be bad timing, or the needle is not in properly. Make sure that the needle is pushed up all the way, and in the correct position. If the needle is too low, it will break. Also, keep the bobbin case door open to see where the needle is catching.

Have you change your needle? I've the same problem adjusted the tension but when I changed the needle, it worked fine. If that doesn't work, you might want to take it into a sewing service shop and have them take a look at it. They should be able to tell right then what the problem is. If it is a severe problem and you don't have a spare machine, you might want to ask if they will give you a loaner. Usually they will give you a machine to use until your machine is fixed. Hope this helps!
