My Playstation 2 memory card has corrupted data.

Well, I've got a 16 MB "Max Memory" brand Playstation 2 memory card. It saves a lot of other games but it won't save my further data on the game TIME CRISIS 3. It saves at the beginning before you play. It even makes an icon on the memory card. When you try to save after that at the saving menu, it starts to save but after a couple seconds it stops and it says the data already on the card is corrupt. Then it asks me if I want to cancel the save. If I click no, it will try saving again but it still says it's corrupt.
I've deleted the TIME CRISES 3 data from the card and tried saving again like twice but it does the same thing. It save at the beginning when it's making memory of the game on the card but after that it won't save. It says it's corrupt every time.

The game is not copied. Its the real one. I got it with the case, instruction manual, and the game has the artwork on the back. It's the original.
This did happen before with another game but the problem was a bit different. The game was Kingdom Hearts- Chain of Memories. It wouldn't even save that game onto the card. It kept saying that I didn't have enough memory on the card but I still had like about 29,000 KB left. I had to borrow a name-brand memory card from a friend, put the Kingdom Hearts- Chain of Memories data on my friend's card, and then copy the data from that card onto my card. The game worked find after that.

Well, if it only does this error for one game then maybe the problem is in the game itself? Is the CD a real one? or is it copied with a golden back?
if it is copied then such things can definitely happen.

I bought a new ps2 and a datel 32mb card and the game i put in says there is no memory card,

Try these steps. If this doesn't work you may want to take the card to Game Stop or something and have them test it to see if it's working. Hope this helps!

  1. Insert the Memory Card into the PlayStation 2 console. The port is located directly above the controller port. Note that there are two different memory card ports; there is no difference between the two. Some games, however, will attempt to auto-load from slot one so it is recommended that you keep your memory card inserted in slot one.
  2. Plug your controller into the PlayStation 2. Power up the system without a PS2 disc inserted. You will be taken to the system menu screen. Select the "Memory Card" menu to examine any data on the card. If the memory card is new there should be no data on the card, if it is used you may see old saves from the previous owner on the card. If you no longer desire to keep these saves, you may highlight them and press the "Triangle" button to delete them.
  3. Insert your PlayStation 2 game disc into the system. When the disc appears on the system menu, select it. Load the game, and play until you are prompted to either create a user profile, or to save your game. Once you have saved any data to the memory card, reset the system.
  4. Select the "Memory Card" menu and examine your memory card. You should see a new icon representing your game's save data. If this data appears on the card, you have correctly set-up your PS2 Memory Card.

If the data does not appear on the card, you will need to format the card. If the system detects corrupt data on the card it will automatically open a prompt asking if you would like to format the memory card. Select "Yes" and the PlayStation 2 will format the card.

Our memory card has corrupt data how do we get rid of it.

There are a lot of reasons data on a ps2 memory card can get corrupted. There is no way to completely get rid of them, but they barely take up any room on the card itself. The only risk is that there is a hightened chance that anything else you put on there could be corrupted at some point.

PS2 memory card corrupted "message" Does anyone know if the card can be fixed and if I can get all my date back. Thank You, Pierre

You can format your card, but you cannot get your data back unfortunately. Start the PS2 with no disc in and enter the memory card utility, try manualing deleting the corrupted data. If that does not work, you have a couple of options. I will give you two. Invest in a new memory card, or look into purchasing an AR Max bundle with, one that comes with a memory editor. This bundle has personally helped me as it completely formats your memory cards, and it also allows easy transfer of game saves,

While you may not being able to save your data, investing in an AR Max bundle (they shouldn't be too expensive nowadays) will allow you to download game saves from websites like GameFAQS.com which will let you bypass playing from the start again.

Good luck.

No data

Sounds like the memory card became corrupted, beware of buying massive memory data cards for ps2 as the bigger they are the more chance of problems, sounds like you will have to get new card.

Guitar Hero III on PS2 Saving Failed

Could be. Maybe the game doesn't recognize the 16 MB. You can try an original 8 MB Sony one. They're not that expensive anymore. But first try the other Memory Card slot.

Let me know if it worked. Please rate.
