GE spacemaker XL1400, Model number JVM1430WA 001

Express Cook buttons work, surface light works, top row bottons with clock, etc. work. No other buttons work. If I enter in the time that I want to cook my food and hit start, nothing happens. Clear button does not work. I have to unplug the microwave in order to use the Express cook buttons. Do you know which part will need to be replaced? Where can I get the part and what the approx. cost will be?

Thanks for your help!!!

You have a failing membrane keypad. If you (or someone you
know) might want to replace it yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically
involved. It is part number WB27X10171 and while GE sells it for a whopping $115.50, you can get it for $90.58 here. You can also find
helpful exploded view diagrams via that link. There
should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit
    behind the
control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is
very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating
    components.

    At
our Web site, we have a video
available showing how to remove a typical
over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes. If you would like to
    have us
do this repair for you, we do that for $39.95 plus part costs, in this case $90.58 plus $8.95 shipping for a total of $139.48.
Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your
full model number from the tag on the unit) for more
    information & help.

    We're
happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful
    rating of our answer.

OOPS!

I meant to post that as a solution, not a clarification request, so it came out as one big blob paragraph (Thanks, FiyXa!)

Here it is again, but in readable form:

Very angry. Fairly new, little-used Spacesaver Microwave [3][Clock][Surface Light] buttons now do not work. We never even press [3], just [1] and [2] to warm sandwiches.
Unplugged for an hour. Still not working. Everything else works. We never use anything else. Bad solder joint in circuit board or keypad?
Thank you.

Why would my microwave no longer heat or cook?

micro waves use a tube inside that generates micro waves and like a light bulb they eventually blow out. the tube is not considered replaceable and cheaper to just get new unit.

Assuming that your internal cooling fan is working, I would suspect that your magnetron is failing.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the
left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

I would check the cooling fan, then suspect the magnetron.
