To refill 920:

1. If you have the plastic cap that covers the 9 mm. hole where you can see the sponge, then tape this cap to the cartidge with scotch tape. If not, use some duct/masking tape to cover the round hole.

2. Use the dry hypodermic needle to find the hole that will be found at the very center of the 920 label. With the needle, pierce the label.

3. Fill the hypodermic needle with 4 cc of ink.

4. Insert the needle 2-3 cm. into the hole made in step 2. Draw out 1 cc of air, then slowly force the 4 cc of ink into the sponge. Use toilet tissue to absorb any ink that might have escaped.

5. Let the catridge stand overnight (if possible) so as to allow the ink to evenly saturate the sponge. If not, insert it into your printer immediately.

Note: If you are going to refill catridges, be certain not to allow the sponge to dry completely. Thus, you might want to do step one immediately and to enclose it in a sealed sandwich bag upon removing an empty catridge from your printer even if you are not going to fill it immediately.

SOURCE: hp 920 xl ink cartridge filling instructions anyone have them

I used the drill method in the video. Took a while to get it printing again but so far, so good. THe low ink light went out so the pritner thinks the cartridge ink level went up as it did.
Will post again if it breaks.

HOW TO RESET 920 INK CARTRIDGE ON HP OFFICEJET 6500 AFTER HAVING IT REFILL

FYI, you cannot reset the ink it self. If your using an HP refilled ink cartridge the warranty of your printer will be void. you need to contact HP right away to purchase new ink cartridges.
If the cartridge has been refilled or remanufactured, 'Low on Ink' or 'Ink Alert' messages may be inaccurate or display incorrectly.

My HP 6500 only prints yellow and black. I refilled all three color cartridges and only the yellow is working. Any ideas?

I own a printer cartridge refilling store and I can't refill these cartridges yet because the chip needs to be replaced/reset and we don't have the technology to do it yet. The reason why only the refilled yellow is working is probably because the chip still thinks there's ink in the cartridge. However, your yellow cartridge will most likely soon not print as well. The other cartridges the chips are telling the printer they are empty. Printer manufacturers like to do this kind of thing so you have to spend the extra money to buy their ink. I would not recommend even trying to refill these yourself until you see reputable retailers with refills (i.e.- Cartridge World, Office Depot, etc).

In the middle of a print job, my cartridge refill stops feeding ink. Printer MN J4680. Does this printer hold the cartridge # in memory in order to stop one from refilling?

HP printers do not remember the cartridge serial number to reject refills (certain Canon printers do though). It sounds like you have an air bubble in the sponge that is inhibiting ink from reaching the print head. I would guess that either you or the store/internet seller that refilled this cartridge hand filled it. These cartridges should be filled under a vacuum to remove air bubbles from the sponge and allow you to fully fill the cartridge (an air bubble takes up space that your ink could be occupying). I recommend Cartridge World or Office Depot for refills. Avoid internet sellers and refill shops that have one giant all-in-one machine that does the filling for them.
