Strong vibration 2004 yamaha xlt waverunner

I have a 2004 yamaha 1200xlt waverunner. was out cruising at 20 mph and suddenly felt a vibration, i let off the throttle and went again and the vibration was still there. I turned it off and started again and everything was fine. Do you think something just ran through the intake or could it be something else. the vibration was very strong.??????????

Something was stuck to the intake obstructing flow.
When you shut it off it drifted away.
It is a good practive when in weedy or heavy debree areas to get clear shut the motor off count to 30 then restart and gradualy excelerate to make sure it is clear. used this method for ten years now and seems to work well for me.

Waverunner is abnormally slow accelerating initially, but will finally get up to normal speed

Pull your air filter out and also replace plugs. Overtime the filter will become saturated with oil and believe it or not the plugs can cause about a 10 mph drop if there going bad. But make sure your pump and impeller are not damaged also

Will only get up to 10 mph but RPM's are up to 8000. Impeller in good shape. No exhaust alarms. Newbie to waverunners.

I just had one do basically the same thing. I had to replace the impeller. It felt like a clutch was slipping. If they get any dings or nicks or anything in the impeller they will not getup speed at all.

YAMAHA WAVERUNNER 2000 XL 800, WILL NOT RUN PAST 12 MPH

Have you done a compression test on all cylinders? My guess is you have a dead cylinder (no oil to one or more cylinders causing loss of power). If the compression test passes (all cylinders equal and higher than 100-110 psi) you have a restricted exhaust from a failed catalytic converter that has broken apart.
