Hi,

The most common reason for a dishwasher running but not heating is because the heating element/coil is open-circuit, i.e. burned out.

It could also be a control module fault so some testing would be done to determine the fault. You can do this yourself if you have a multi-meter / ohm-meter and can get access to the element. If the element is working you will get a resistance reading of between 25-30 ohms if the element is working. If this checks out, then you probably have a control module fault and in most cases, these need to be replaced unless you know someone who can repair PCBs at component level.

Both element and control module can be replaced by a reasonably competent DIY'er as long as you have some basic instructions for disassembling the washer and can get the part. Replacing the control module will be significantly more expensive than replacing the element. An enginner would charge between £70-100 to replace the element and £130-£180 to replace the control module. If you're quoted more than this, find someone else!
