How do I SET BACK TO FACTOR SETTINGS WHEN THE MONITOR IS ASKING TO INSERT DISK 3 AND I DONT HAVE IT.

Hi
I have found a manual for your machine here:
https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/www.mrcdn.com/pdf/emachines/emachines-e627-owner-s-manual.pdf
and am assuming that you followed the instructions for making the back-up disks when you got the machine. The Recovery programme is described in detail on pages 23 and following. However it only refers to 2 disks the OS and Drivers & Apps. Did you use 3 disks when you made the restore disks, if so you really need that 3rd disk. If you didn't then you shouldn't need a third disk.Does restarting the machine work, or does it return to wanting third disk? If the former you are obviously OK and can use updates to get all the relevant updates for your machine. Otherwise the only other option is to get the disk from e-machines and use these to return to factory settings.
Hope this is helpful, if so would you please register that with Fixya
Cheers

Factory restore

If your particular eMachines model didn't come with recovery media or you just misplaced the disc, you don't want to be caught without a means to restore the operating system.

It's all too easy to accidentally download a virus or experience any number of problems that make your computer unstable.

However, there is an option for restoring your computer without the original recovery disc by using the pre-installed recovery software.

Use an external memory device such as a DVD, flash drive or external hard drive to back up the data you need to save from your eMachines computer.

Any data that isn't saved to an external source will be erased when the computer is restored to factory settings.

Remove any discs that are in the optical drive and unplug the computer's peripheral devices, such as an Ethernet cable or scanner.

Do not disconnect the keyboard, mouse or monitor.

Click the Windows "Start" menu and choose "All Programs."

Navigate to "eMachines" and choose "eMachines Recovery Management." Click the "Restore" tab.

Click "Password Settings" if you have not already set a recovery password. Type a new password in the text box and click "OK." Click "Restore System to Factory Default."

Type the recovery password and click "OK." Click "Next" to wipe the eMachines computer's hard drive and begin the recovery process.

Select "Finish" and wait for the eMachines computer to restart.

Use the series of installation prompts that appear on the screen to create a new user account for your operating system, set the system date and time, and set up your internet settings.

hope this helps

Emachines t1116

Usually e-machine and other pc's have a factory restore setting set up in case of an error. You can; according to emachine tap the "Alt" and "F10" keys at the same time when the eMachines logo appears. Press "Enter" and follow the directions on the screen to recover the operating system back to factory condition. I hope that helps, if those keys don't work try F11 at the emachine logo. Good luck.

CD drive wont read on my brand new e627

Hello, Jennifer.

Since you just purchased the emachine two days ago and already there is a problem, I would suggest that you either return the computer to where you purchased (most place have a 7-day return policy) or contact emachines. Here the link to emachine's Customer Care: http://www.emachines.com/support/warranty.html

I suspect that the CD drive is faulty and should be replaced.

Hope this helps.
