SOURCE: PS3 does not turn on. When I press the on button, red light turns green thne to yellow then to flashing red.

This is called a System Error. It is about the same as the Xjunks ring of death. You need to call Sony if you haven't broken your seal yet.

SOURCE: light turns on, light turns yellow, light turns red and blinks.

Your ps3 has overheated. This is the equivilent to the red ring of death for xbox 360. The ps3 problem is called "yellow light of death" this means your ps3 has died due to the console being overheated. The solution to this problem is either getting a new playstation or take it to a shop in the UK and they could help you fix it for a price around £30-£50 GBP.

SOURCE: my ps3 wont turn on. when the power button is

The PS3 YLoD can be caused by a number of things. Most commonly, it's a result of a hardware failure, overheating, dust build-up inside the system, and occasionally just due to loose cables.

Let's start with the easy stuff first to narrow down the cause. Follow the steps below:

1. Assuming you were playing your PS3 when the YLoD happened, move your PS3 into an open area with a lot of ventilation and let it cool down for 20-30 minutes. Once it's cool, try to turn it back on and see if that helped. If not, go to Step 2.

2. Unplug all of your cables from the PS3 including the A/V and the power cord. Also unplug the power cable from the wall. Now try to plug them all back in and make sure they are all secure. Turn the PS3 back on and check if it's working. If not, go to step 3.
How to Fix PS3 Yellow Light on Your Own

3. Get a vacuum with a hose attachment and vacuum out the vents on the system. Sometimes dust build-up alone can cause your PS3 to stop working properly. You might also want to take one of those cans of air and blow it in there to get some of the stubborn pieces of dust out.

If none of those solutions worked, the problem lies within the PS3 and you will probably need to take it apart to fix it. The most likely scenario is that your heat-shield overheated, the chipsets got shifted due to heat, and your solder could be cracked.

the causes of the yellow light of death
Here are some of the top causes of the PS3 Yellow Light of Death:

* Overheating - The unit gets too hot. Sometimes caused by too much dust buildup in the vents.
* Blu-Ray drive failure.
* Bad power supply.
* Hard-drive critical errors.
* Hardware malfunction on the motherboard - The solder starts to crack due to excessive heating and cooling.

if you have warranty then take it back if you dont then you can either try the repair yourself how ever this is not very easy to do and can cause more harm than good you will need special tools to take it apart and its not easy you also need an understanding of heat seal paste and heat sinks due to this being the part you need to remove and put back

i do the repair for about 25pound plus parts so if you are paying someone to do it then your looking at least that price, i only charge if the problem is fixed so try and get the best price you can.

let me know if you need further assistance ok

plz rate this solution as i have a whole page of unrated posts, thanks

Thomson modem problem

Hi there.
The modem needs to be hard reset, on the back or underneath the modem you should find a small hole or button, you need to push this button and keep it pressed in for around 1 - 2 minutes, release the button and give the unit another 2 minutes to settle.
The wireless light should then go green or stay a static orange (not blinking)
If this does not resolve the problem it may need a firmware update.

Good luck

The following procedure will re-establish the communication link between the Headphones and the Wireless adapter, this is called "pairing". Before you start please make sure both the headphones and the wireless adapter are fully charged and turned off.
Note: The headphones and the wireless adapter come pre-paired from the factory.
1. Press and hold the power button on the headphones. See Figure 1.
headphone.jpg
Figure 1

2. Continue to hold the button down until the LED starts flashing red/blue in an alternating pattern. Release the button when the LED starts flashing red/blue. See Figure 2.
headphone-flash.gif
Figure 2
3. Once the headphones LED is flashing red/blue, press and hold the power button on the wireless adapter. See Figure 3.

Figure 3
4. Hold down the button until the LED starts flashing red/blue in an alternating patter. The LED will blink blue, then turn off for a few seconds then blink red/blue. Release the button when the LED starts flashing red/blue. See Figure 4.
receiver-flash.gif
Figure 4
5. Once both the headphones LED and the adapter LED is blinking red/blue, press the volume up button once on the headphones. See Figure 5.
headphone-volumeup.jpg
Figure 5
Once the headphones is paired with the adapter, the LED on the headphones will blink blue once every two seconds. See Figure 6.
headphone-flash2.gif
Figure 6
When the adapter is paired the LED will be solid blue. See Figure 7.
receiversolid.jpg
Figure 7
The adapter may continue to blink red/blue for a few seconds even after the headphones LED starting blinking blue. This is normal; the adapter may take a few additional seconds before the LED turn solid blue.
Once the headphones and the adapter are paired, it is not necessary to pair them again even if the batteries on both units are completely drained.
Additional Note: Repeated pairing will not improve the sound quality or give the headphones and the adapter a cleaner connection.

The code is 0081 and this is how you do it.

'4 digit' or 'Brand Set' method
1. Turn on your TV.

2. Press TV on your Sky remote control.

3. Hold down select and the red button together for about two seconds, until the red light on the Sky remote control blinks twice.

4. Press TV on your Sky remote control again.

5. Key in the Brand Set code for your brand of TV. The light on the Sky remote control blinks twice.
If the light blinks once only, re check the code for your TV and start again at step 1.

6. Press the on/off button (power-top right button on your Sky remote control).

If your TV switched off, press select . The light on the Sky remote control blinks twice.

If your TV did not switch off, press TV , then press the on/off button. Repeat this (press TV , then on/off) until your TV turns off, then press select.

If the light on your Sky remote control blinks three times, your Sky digibox has checked all the possible settings for the code you used. Check that you have the right 4 digit code and start again at step 1.

7. Press TV guide .
If you see the TV Guide screen, the remote control setup process is complete.

If you did not see the TV Guide, you must now set the TV Guide function as follows:

8. Press TV on your Sky remote control.

9. Hold down select and the green button together for about two seconds, until the red light on the Sky remote control blinks twice. The remote control setup process is complete.

Tv keeps turning off?

cutta, you will most often hear a click on boot then the fans start up and lamp will then fire. The picture will start to show up....at what point does it shut off? and do you hear a click when the tv is turning off? Is it the complete tv shutting down, fans and everything that turns off? Do you see any lights on the the front panel "POWER", "STATUS" or "LAMP", what are they doing? If you see a Power, Status or Lamp light after it shuts off the below are what they mean if there is an issue. POWER - STATUS - LAMP - CONDITION/ISSUE: Off - Yellow - Off - Temp. high/dirty filter/excess room temp Off - Off - Yellow - 4000 hrs. Lamp usage warning Off - Off - Blink Yellow - Lamp Cover open Off - Blink Yellow - Off - Air Filter Cover open Off - Off - Red - Lamp failure (failed to turn On or broken) Off - Blink Red - Off - Fan Has Stopped Off - Red - Off - Circuit failure (short) or DVI cable disconnected If you want to check for the last "Error Code", after you first turn the TV on, by pressing the front panel ?DEVICE? and ?MENU? buttons at the same time and holding them for 5 seconds, it activates the Error Code Mode. The ?Power LED Light? blinks/flashes (1/2 sec delay) and then flashes again denoting a two digit Error Code indicating no problem or an error has occured since the last Initalization. i.e. "Power light" blinks 3 times (1/2 second delay) and then blinks 4 times then 1 sec delay and repeats a few times. This would mean "Error 34 - Lamp abnormality". See below for error codes..... Error Code - Description or issue 12 - No Error detected, check Power Supply 32 - Lamp Cover is open 33 - Air Filter Cover is open 34 - Lamp abnormality 36 - Light Engine (DMD or LAMP Fan stopped) 37 - Exhaust or Lamp Ballast Fan stopped 38 - Lamp temperature high 39 - DMD temperature high 41 - Short is detected 44 - DVI cable between FMT & Engine disconnected. Sorry for the long answer but it was an open ended question.
