I have a timex marathon watch. I don't know how to set the time and date. The instructions with it only tell warrenty. I am not happy with the new watch

Reset the day in the settings. My guess is that you are in the wrong year.

how do i decrease the year?

To set time and date:
1) With time and date showing,
press SET and hold for 2 seconds.
2) Seconds flash. Press START/STOP to set seconds
to zero.
3) Press MODE

Holding down the mode button will put you in set mode. You can then cycle through the fields and set the watch using the srt and rst buttons.
