SOURCE: Can you listen to a police frequency if it's

You can listen to trunked police bands UNLESS: 1 they went Digital and your scanner is Analog. 2. They use an encrypted control frequency. 3. It is not against the law in your area. 4. you have a Trunked scanner. Following trunked frequencies requires a trunked scanner which is very different from regular everyday scanners. If the photo of your scanner is accurate then it appears you have Digital capability so that won't be a problem. You can go to Radio shack and purchase a book on Public Safety frequencies and Control Frequencies which will give you the proper frequency range but they will tell you nothing about Encryption on any Frequency. If you can not find a Control Frequency then you will not be able to track the hoping that is used in a trunked system. By the way, a Regular scanner runs about $50 where as a Trunked Scanner runs $150 to $200.

SOURCE: How do i reset my

To reset the BC72XLT:
- Power the scanner OFF.
- Press and hold the 2, 9, and HOLD keys while powering the scanner ON.

After about 3 seconds the word CLEAr will show on the display.

The above will delete/erase all of your programmed data. If you don't want to lose everything, you can just program 0.0 (zero decimal zero) in place of each unwanted frequency. That will clear those channels and they will be skipped during SCAN.

Need the manual for your scanner? You can download and print it, at no cost, here:

No. The BC72XLT does not have a data port and it does not support any type of programming software. For complete specifications and programming instructions you can download and print the operating manual here:

Programmimg help

The BC72XLT is a fairly simple unit to program, but you will first need to know what frequencies to put into it. You can find active frequencies for your area by visiting RadioReference.com or CityFreq.com. Below is a link to the manual for your scanner. It will walk you through the programming steps.

How do I program my Uniden BC72XLT race scanner?

1. Press HOLD. Then enter the channel number
where you want to store a frequency, then press
FUNC and PGM. The channel number appears.
2. Use the number keys and to enter the
frequency (including the decimal point) you want
to store.
3. Press E to store the frequency into the channel.
Notes:
• If you entered an invalid frequency in Step 2,
ERROR appears and the scanner beeps three
times. Enter a valid frequency.
• The scanner automatically rounds the entered
number to the nearest valid frequency.
For example, if you enter 151.473 (MHz), your
scanner accepts it as 151.475.

How to program Uniden bc72xlt

It looks like Uniden went out of their way to complicate the programming process on the BC72XLT. To program a frequency into it, first turn the scanner ON, then press the HOLD button to stop scanning. enter the channel number that you wish to program (01, 02, etc.), press FUNC and PGM (E), followed by the frequency - including the decimal point. Finally, press E. Pressing HOLD again should advance the scanner to the next channel where you can start again. Need the manual? You can download it here:
