Bosh over-the-range microwave. model HMV9305. Lights work, control panel works. Everything seems normal but the food does not cook. We checked set up. Everything seems fine. We use a marshmellow to practice on. It doesn't even get warm.

Its your magnatron tube, that is what makes the microwaves. the part # 492603, you can order it at marcone.com it should cost $100-150, if the micro is more than 6 years old I might not fix it.

Everything works but food does not heat up I have a ge over the range microwave

If everything seems to work, except cooking the food it is probably the magnetron which sells for $100-$150 for the part alone.

My microwave is completely dead. I have checked the fuse in the plug and it is fine. Any suggestions?

Hello,

What you are to do to solve the problem is to do a general troubleshooting on your oven below are instruction to follow.

The Microwave is a counter top model with a variety of preset cooking options, including timed cooking at a variety of power levels and sensor-cooking settings for popcorn, rice, beverages and single-serving reheating.

The sensor cooking and reheating features detect increasing humidity levels inside the microwave and automatically adjust cooking time for various types and amounts of food. This microwave also includes a turntable and an electronic control panel.

Instructions below are step by step solution for your oven

  1. Check to see if the microwave will start. If it will not start and the display panel is blank, you may have a power problem. Unplug the microwave and then plug it back in, making sure that all three prongs of the power cord are fully inserted into the wall outlet. If this doesn't work, check your home's fuse box. Reset the circuit breaker to restore if necessary.
  2. Ensure that the microwave door is fully closed. Press the Clear/Off button to cancel any previous cooking instructions. Re-enter your cooking program, including cooking time and food weight if necessary, and press Start.
  3. If "Err" appears on the microwave display, press the Clear/Off button and reenter your cooking program. The "Err" message will appear during the sensor-controlled programs (Popcorn, Rice, Beverage or Reheat) if the door is opened before steam is detected or if no steam was detected within the maximum amount of time allowed by the microwave. Be sure to leave the door closed during these programs, at least until time is shown counting down on the display panel.
  4. If your control panel will not work or if an "L" is displayed on the screen, press and hold the Clear/Off button for a full three seconds to unlock the control panel.
  5. If your sensor reheat program is resulting in under- or overcooked food, first try decreasing the amount of food in the microwave; the sensor programs are designed for single servings of food. The sensor reheat function works by measuring humidity inside the microwave--do not use a tightly-covered dish with this setting because no moisture will be able to escape and the food will overcook. Be sure that cooking containers are dry; moist containers will increase the humidity in the microwave and mislead the sensor, resulting in undercooked food.
  6. If your turntable is not rotating, first check to ensure that your food container is positioned so that it can freely rotate without hitting the microwave's interior walls; using a smaller food container can fix this problem. If the turntable still will not rotate, lift the turntable from its support and replace it carefully, ensuring that it rests evenly on its support.
Good luck.

Thank you and thanks for using fixya.

Microwave vent turned on by itself and won't turn off

The HMV9305 has an automatic vent turn-on feature. It senses heat, possibly from the oven or range beneath, and turns on the exhaust fan until temps return to normal. Sometimes this may take 4-5 minutes, which can seem like an eternity of listening to the blower run, but it is a safety feature designed to prevent damage to the microwave from excessive heat generated by the cooktop or oven beneath it.

Have GE JVM2050 over the range microwave, which stopped heating food and water since this morning. All other functions including light, key pad, clock, turntable work normal. The magnetron sound also

if everything works except the heating, it is most likely the mag tube is on its way out.........that is the most common reason for it not too cook.......since the microwave is a GE and it is 3.5 years old, i would say you are better off buying a new microwave, the mag tube starts at around $70.00 and up + the labor it costs too have a service person put it in........around another $60.00

My GE spacemaker microwave doesn't heat up foods. There is a slight bit of heat generated but not much. All timers, lights, etc. work normal. It is a GE model jvm1440. It is about 3 years old. The problem...

IT COULD BE A NUMBER OF THINGS RANGING FROM DIODES TO CAPACITORS TO YOUR MAGNATRON OR THERMOSTAST OR TRANSFORMERS. IT'S DIFFICULT TO DIAGNOSE WITHOUT SEEING THIS MICROWAVE. YOU MAY BE BETTER OFF GETTING YOURSELF A DIFFERENT ONE.

JVM1190 wont cook

You have a blown actuator. This is the device that creates the microwaves that cook the food. The cost of one of these will be as much as a new unit.

Everything works...Except for actually heating the food

It has a bad magnetron. This is the tube that provides the microwaves to heat the food. Not too easy to replace yourself but it can be done. Cost of magnetron is probably less than $50 or $60.
