What board do I test and/or replace if there is no backlighting on tv?

I analyzed the problem with my RCA combo DVD player 32LB30RQD that was not starting right away and sometimes took 10-15 minutes to start, and decided it might be the power supply board RE46HQ1502 and found a matching part which I purchased and installed. Unfortunately the problem still exists and do not know if there is a testing process on one of the other circuit boards that I could do to analyze what the problem may be. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Taking it into a shop will cost more than half of the replacement cost so I thought I would try this.

Did you do the flashlight test to see if the TV image is present and you have a burned on back light display?

    I could not see any background images using the flashlight test. So do not know if I was doing it wrong or there were none.

    They would be clearly visible with the flashlight. You have a burned out back light display I think.

More times than not...won't grab/ read dvd without putting it in a few times.. use to work fine but all of a sudden says no disc?? What can I do??? PLEASE HELP :-
Have you tried cleaning the DVD lens? I used o have a similar problem with my old CD player, I bought a lens cleaner (looks like a CD with some brushes on it) and not had any problem since. Not tried it on my DVD player, but they may make one specifically for that.

Samsung CXD2512 TV/VCR Combo...Cannot hook up DVD player
We also don't have a remote. We hooked a DVD/VCR combo to the Samsung combo by attaching the cable from the cable line to the DVD player and an additional cable from DVD to TV and it used to work but after we lost the control, the DVD can only be listened to but not seen. The VHS from the DVD player works perfectly though.

When we had the remote (before connecting the other combo) we used line-in to see a DVD or VHS using the yellow red and white cables from the Samsung to the other player.
