My Compaq Computer won't power on, what do I do?

Responsibly recycle that "dead" computer, and buy a new computer with Windows 8.

Try reseating the RAM modules, If this does not work then the RAM maybe faulty. Remove the RAM module/s and take them to your friendly computer repair shop and get them to test the RAM for you. If the RAM is faulty them it needs to be replaced.

first check the power cable if its properly plugin, and check if ac to dc adaptor has a output power.
you can check it by using digital voltmeter or an analog multimeter, you can see the pin output in the back of the adaptor, it has positive and negative sign.

Check to see if the power button LED is turned on.
It might be that your power button has loose connection.
Ii also could be your power supply gone bad.
Also check all the power line connection.

Go to Compaq and get them to resolve the issue or replace the PC.

The charger is functioning well. There are still two possible reasons why your computer is not turning on. 1. The battery, 2. The computer itself.

What you need to do is to isolate the problem.

Here's what you can do to isolate the problem.

1. Remove the battery from the computer.
2. Turn on the computer using the cord. Remember not to put back the battery yet. Just the cable and the computer connected. If the computer turns on, then, you need to replace the battery.
3. If it still not turning on by using the cord alone. Try to wiggle the cord to check whether it's loose or not. Check if there are some signs of power on the computer. If there is a power like lights lit in the computer, then, it's the computer that's having the problem. You need to bring it to a technician if that's the situation.

Sounds like either the ram may be bad or the video card is bad.Plug in an external monitor and see if it shows.If it does that will eliminate the video card being bad.If it does'nt show, the video card is most likely bad.A bad ram stick can cause it also.You could make sure the display is plugged in securely on the motherboard too.Good luck!

This could indicate a bad battery, or bad memory chip. Try starting without the battery. If this doesn't work, then try takeing one or the other memory chips out. If the problem persists, then it may lie within the power management system on the motherboard.
