Check for power to outlet, blown fuse, or bad transformer. these are the most common issues

  • Rodney Kahn
    Rodney Kahn May 19, 2012

I just diagnosed this on an Orbit timer. The fuse that is visible in the compartment is a spare fuse. The working fuse was under the paper covering adjacent to the removable cover where the power cord is anchored. The spare fuse measured 0 ohms. The working fuse was not broken, but read 64K ohms. starting to burn.

2) Reset timer and reprogram.
Move slide switch to to right 'set own program'
Then when times are programmed, move slide switch fully right to 'run own program'

Mod 57880 am setting ok pm setting wont come on ?

Is this new timer?
Or timer that worked before and stopped working?

Check outlet with circuit analyzer for correct polarity and grounding.
Reset timer and re-program, being careful to avoid conflicts and/or overlaps. Each ON time must also have OFF time with consistent days for each. If selected time is 12:00, then use 11:59 instead to avoid possible problems with am and pm conflict.
product comes with 1 year limited warranty.

Orbit digital 57880 sprinkler timer manual is 19 pages long, which is good argument for using analog timers with 1 page manual.
Troubleshoot appears on page 18 of manual, and includes Tech service number.

Moved into a home with this Intermatic EI600LAC timer and have no instructions. Tried to set several times and it just wont work. What does 'NORTH' 'CENT' 'SOUTH' mean... Please...

Complicated timer.
NORTH CENT SOUTH is your astronomic feature asking for approximate US latitude so timer can calculate sun-up and sun-down times.
Timer can be set for astronomic dawn-to-dusk operation or ordinary programming on-off

Open following link for manual:

OR open following link for easy walk-thru steps for programming the timer:

The EI600 is 5-year-warranty version of ST01C 1-year-warranty timer

I have an ET104CP and cannot read the instructions, therefore I need an instruction manual or the step to program one-(1) event both on and off.

Thank you for including model number of product.

-One confusing part of ET104CP 24-hour timer is that event1 is ON and event2 is OFF and event3 is ON, and event4 is OFF etc.
-Another confusing part is that on-line manual says: "Refer to programming instructions on time switch door."
-So if timer door has gotten wet or paper has aged, then key instructions are missing unless you have new timer in front of you.
-Last confusing part can be selector switches.
To program timer, selectors are set to Manual and RUN
To operate timer programs, selectors are set to AUTO and RUN

1) Manual for product appears below:
http://www.intermatic.com/~/media/files/intermatic/products/instructions/timers/et104c%20-%20english.ashx

2) According to manual, you put timer in Manual and RUN and then press and hold reset button, and then event1 will display.
Guessing at this point, press hour and minute button to set event1 ON
Press event button again to display event2, and then press hour and minute
Make sure events do not conflict with each other or timer will not operate

3) If instructions in #2 above are not correct, then add a comment and write out what is printed on your timer door, I can work alongside you to help decipher

4) If timer instructions on door panel have gotten wet and are unreadable, then contact Intermatic directly.

I have a n older mandolyn (upm.??) AX-801S timer. I have it all programmed. However whereas many timers have ON/AUTO/OFF settings this one only has ON/OFF. Does anyone know which way to set this timer to...

I do not know that timer.
Many older timers never had online manuals.

HI, got a problem to start intermatic hb88rc , wont strat after programing

http://www.intermatic.com/products/timers/consumer%20outdoor%20timers/digital%20timers/hb88rc.aspx

http://www.intermatic.com/~/media/files/intermatic/products/instructions/timers/hb88rc%20-%20english.ashx

Let's do a checklist:
> The battery has to be installed before you program timer, so that is good.
> Press Mode button and it over-rides current program ... so mode button acts as the manual override. Try manual override and see if Load comes on.
> The manual override is the real test. Plug something else into timer and use the manual override to see if timer is able to complete a circuit.
> If manual override works then your programming is suspect. (see more below)
> If manual override does not work then electric circuit is off, or timer is bad.
> After using manual override, press clock to return to current time
> Make sure Mode is not set to random
> The clock must be keeping correct time, or you would have mentioned it
> Check that the electrical plug has power.
> Check that the Load (light, fan) operates fine without the timer.

Programming problems:
> The timer program calls for ON time and OFF time for each program. If the ON time was skipped, then timer will not turn ON.
> If there is a conflict in programming, the timer will not operate as expected. For example program1 says ON at 7 and OFF at 8, but program2 says the opposite.
> Another example is when the AMs and PMs are mixed. For example you want ON at 7am TU and OFF at 7PM TU. But the timer was set for ON at 7am and Off at 7am.
> When programming, write out a schedule so there are no conflicts.
> The ON and OFF functions should follow the same days. For example ON is set for 7am TU but Off is set for ALL week.

I have digital programmable timers (Model DT121 and Model DT11) that will accept programs, but won't turn the attached lamps on and off at the programed times. The batterys are new and I've had them...

DT121 Manual
http://www.intermatic.com/~/media/files/intermatic/products/instructions/timers/dt121c%20-%20english.ashx

All Intermatic manuals
http://www.intermatic.com/customer%20service/instruction%20manuals.aspx

Intermatic does not show DT11
Intermatic shows the DT121 is no longer available

If the display shows and you can set programs, then the battery is good.
Does the manual override work? This indicates whether the timer on-off switch operates.
If manual override does not work, then I discovered that timers are no longer any good

Programming:
Set present time
Then set ON time for program 1
Set OFF time for program 1
Then set ON time for program 2
Set OFF time for program 2
Most timers will not function if there is a conflict in programming > for example Program 1 says ON at 6 and OFF at 7 and Program 2 says opposite or has overlapping times
When events are set, press SET once > this will put timer in RUN mode

If manual override works, and you set programming correctly, but timer does not carry out instructions, I guess the timer is no good.

Intermatic has 24 hour timers with 2 on-off per day
http://www.intermatic.com/products/timers/consumer%20indoor%20timers/lamp%20%20appliance%20timers.aspx
Intermatic has 7-day digital timers (all digital timers today are 7 day where you select the day that each program works)

Samsung DVD-SH855

Hi Thanks to all. Problem was solved by my son who suggested that I turn the unit off in standby mode. Samsung DVD-SH855 will not record via timer settings when the unit is left with pwr on. Only works if pwr switched off.
Had I known this prior to purchasing I would have purchased a brand that worked with pwr on.
