My computer keeps "auto-adding" contacts I already have. how can I stop this?

If you use Windows Live Mail to manage your Hotmail account, any email addresses that you reply to at least three times are automatically stored in your Address Book as frequent contacts. If this function is cluttering your contacts list and you want to deactivate it, you can do so through Windows Live Mail's Options dialog.

Open Windows Live Mail and click the "Show Menu" button, then "Options." Select the "Send" tab in the Options dialog box that appears. Uncheck the box next to "Automatically put people I reply to in my address book after the third reply" and click "OK."

I accidentally permanently deleted my Outlook Express application, can it be restored? My OS is Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit, 2009 version, Service Pack 1

Windows 7 does not support the use of Outlook Express - this was removed from Windows Vista and Windows 7 and replaced by Windows Mail (in Vista) and by Windows Live Mail (in 7).
If you have copies of the Outlook Express mail database files (inbox.dbx etc) you should be able to migrate these into Windows Live Mail using the Import Messages option in the File menu and selecting Microsoft Outlook Express 6 then browsing to the folder where your mail database files for Outlook Express are held.
If you have previously exported your Outlook Express account details (name.iaf) - you can import these into Windows Live Mail too through the Import option in the Accounts page.
Lastly, if you still have your Outlook Express Address book (name.wab) this can be imported in to your Windows Live Contacts by selecting File then Import Windows Address book (.wab).

Outlook express is not available for Windows 7 or even Vista. You can't download it or run it on either of the two version of Windows. However you can install MS Office that includes Outlook on it or you may install a third party e-mail program or even better to use Windows Live Mail free programwhich is a part of the Windows Live Essentials.

If you have Yahoo! Mail Plus (a paid upgrade), you can access those messages directly from a standard email program (such as Outlook, Windows Live Mail, etc.). You need to configure the account settings in your email program for the Yahoo service.

The settings for incoming mail are:
Incoming (POP) server: plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com
Port: 995
Security: SSL

For more on Yahoo server settings, see this Yahoo help page:

I have windows mail and would like outlook express. Is there somewhere I can download it for free or do I have to buy a program?

If you have Windows Mail, you no doubt are running Windows Vista. Sorry, but Outlook Express is not supported in Vista. You are stuck with Windows Mail or a third-party mail client. FYI, I use Thunderbird and am quite satisfied. It works with Windows XP through Windows 7
