I've recently just nuked my Sony Vaio VGN-NR160E, and after when I tried to boot the Vista disc to install. It just says "Operating System not found", I've tried installing Windows XP, but it does the same thing except the laptop doesn't actually show the message "Operating System not found". I've read on some forums that you have to download a patch to install XP on this laptop due to some bugs with the HDD or something. But basically I just want Vista to be able to boot install.
Go to your BIOS Setup, see to it that there is a Hard Disk Boot Priority, maybe you didn't put it there.

Hello,
Sound like your system may not be reconizing the hard drive. Have you tried resetting your BIOS to the default setting? I would recommend doing that and verifing that your hard drive is seated correctly to its connector. Then retry the install using your Vista disk. Good luck.

There is no OS at all. I nuked the HDD. Nothing on it except the BIOS.
Can i ask, is there any OS currently installed on the laptop?
