SOURCE: converting from 220 to 110 volts

Most brands of air comperssors are built to work on either 220 or 110 v. I believe that 220 v compressors are more efficient and draw less current and run cooler.
The more expensive compressors have a switch allowing for voltage selection. Still others will have a wiring diagram printed on the motor allowing voltage change by changing jumpers. Most all of the sears compressors that I have repaired were of single voltage with no other way to change except change motor. Do not worry however, you have the better motor. It is easier to convert the outlet plug to 220 by isolating the circuit and installing a 220 v breaker. enjoy

SOURCE: Air compressor head gasket diagram

Campbell hausfeld has all their manuals on line at www.chpower.com / you can enter the model # of the whole unit or just the # of the pump. Also you can enter just a partial number example wl650 for a list of models is that range. Use caution when installing gaskets for chpower oiless pumps. Some of their gaskets are very brittle. After installing parts, turn pump by hand to make sure all parts are in their proper place and that there is suction. Enjoy

I have a Craftsman air compressor model 919.156520.What is the gallon capacity and what is the horse power

This compressor has a 33 gallon tank and a 3 to 5 hp (rated)motor. Sears , however, rates their motor power rather differently. I would guess that the actual hp is more like one to one and a half horsepower, going by the amp draw. Usually, a 3 to 5 hp range compressor will only run on 220v and this unit is 110v.

I just bought a craftsman pneumatic 1/2-in drive impact wrench. And used it with my craftsman 4-gallon 1hp air compressor tried to loosen the bolts on my car wheel wouldn't loosen them help

Pneumatic tools are rated in cfm (cubic feet per minute). Your 1 HP air compressor is rated at probably not more than 3 cfm while the 1/2 " impact driver needs at least 8 cfm, maybe 12 chm of air.
The compressor must provide more chm than tool rating needs.
It is a problem, by the time you look at five horse power air compressors and larger, a lot of electric power is needed. A circuit of 220 volts, 20, 30, or more amps would be required to run those large expensive compressors.
If you can, return the air tool and get a good electric tool instead.
Leave those high air volume air tools to shops that are so equipped to use, or invest if you must.

My sears air compressor model 919.156781 will not pump up past 40 psi , then motor then compressor stalls and motor gets hot , have to unplug . I have had the motor checked

When it gets to 40 psi turn it off and see if you hear air leaking down from somewhere....if so listen and feel around the edges of the compressor head. If you hear or feel air leaking there you may need to replace a head gasket.

I purchased a used Craftsman 2 HP 20 Gal air compressor, model # 919.176220. I'm looking for a copy of the user manual, Sears # SI-30-14-4-C. This item is no longer available from Sears.com and doesn't...

Since the exact model number manual is not available go to Sears and look at the compressors they have on the floor (or in the catalog). Find one that looks like the one you have and note the model number (these devices haven't changed much over the years). order the manual for the one that matches your machine the best.

I have an older 33 gallon horizontal craftsman compressor. In December I turned the compressor on in my unheated garage when the temp had been in the 20's for days. It seemed to run normally at first. Then...

It sounds like the pressure safety valve could be acting up. It is designed to open when the tank pressure it too high and they don't always reset until the pressure is down to nothing. Some models have them included on the gauge manifold and some on the top of the tank under the cover. It is also possible that the upper limit on the motor switch is set a little too high which would also cause the valve to "pop" before the compressor shuts off.

My compressor will not go over 20 psi i have a craftsman 921 4 gal 125 psi compressor and it will not build past 20 psi i do not know how to get to the pistons and stuff what do i do?

The problem with compressors not building pressure is usually a bad pressure switch or bad regulator. Does the motor shut off at 20psi or does it continue running and not build pressure? If the motor continues to run with no increase in pressure, the you should go over the machine looking for air leaks from your regulator back all the way to the motor. Any air leak while the compressor is running can cause the pressure to "peak" way before the intended shutoff that it is regulated to.

My Craftsman 4 Hp. 15 gallon horizonal air wont tun on

There may be a thermal overload reset button on the back of the motor that was tripped. If you press it in it should reset it.

If this is not the problem, post a comment with more details including model number for more advanced troubleshooting.

Thanks,

Tim
