Here is how i fixed my Dyson dc44 not charging, it turned out to be easy, but i went through checking everything else on the way to find a simple fault and fix
Find an electrical tester and see if the charger is charging when it is plugged in.
If the charger is charging, there is a rechargeable battery inside your vacuum, which may have "died".
That battery may or may not be replaceable.
God bless your efforts.
If you have a DC voltmeter and can see the contacts in the charger, you may be able to see it the charger has a output. But with the newer electronics for battery charging, the battery may need to be in the charger to get a reading. My guess is you do have a bad charger.
I'm sorry to hear your machine isn't charging. In order to confirm whether the fault lies with the charger, battery or main body, our experts would need to talk you through some simple diagnostic checks when you have your DC44 easily to hand.

The battery falls slightly loose, so you have to fasten it securely to the body of the vacuum. I learned this from another user here on Fixya. He uses electric tape. I used one of those rubber bracelets that kids wear. Worked perfectly!
I'm sorry to hear your DC44 Animal doesn't seem to be working correctly. If the green LED indicator on the machine lights up, but the machine itself doesn't run, this suggests the battery is flat. It could mean that it's not recharging correctly when connected to the docking station.
It would be worth temporarily disconnecting and removing the charger cord from the docking station and plugging it directly into the machine - the machine should recharge fully within 3.5 hours. If the machine then works as normal the charger cord may not have been corrected fitted to the docking station.
If you'd like further advice from our experts after you've given this a try, please call the Dyson customer Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), or 1-877-397-6622 (CA).
