Hi,

The first thing you need to do is establish whether there is an actual fault with the MR or whether it's a setup/connection issue. You haven't indicated anything you have already tried in order to rectify the problem so I'll have to start at the beginning with the basics:

Isolate the MR

1. Make sure the MR power is off using the "POWER" button on the front of the unit.
2. Disconnect ALL cables from the back of the MR. If you have several connections be sure to make a note of where they all reconnect
3. Unplug the MR from the power outlet and leave disconnected for at least 5 minutes.

The software/firmware in a MR can "crash" in the same way that your PC does. Unplugging it for a few minutes should re-boot the system - basically the same as starting up your PC.

4. Plug the MR into the power outlet again but do not connect any cables.
5. Switch the MR on using the "POWER" button on the front of the unit.

If the MR is still stuck in standby, you have a fault with the MR.

If the MR will power on:

6. Switch the power off again and re-connect the cables for one device at a time then test the MR. Make sure the cable are connected to the correct sockets.

I suggest you connect the TV first then test the MR will power on. Next connect the cable box and test the MR again. If everything is OK, continue to connect any other devices one at a time and test the MR after each connection.

If the MR fails to power on after connecting a specific device, this will give a good indication of where the fault is and what to do next.

If you can re-connect all of the devices and the MR functions correctly, then it was just a simple case of the MR having "crashed" and you can resume normal operation. Should the fault re-occur, simply unplug the box, leave for a few minutes and switch back on. You can avoid disconnecting everything unless the box fails to power up after the "hard reset" - i.e. unplugging it.

This is a very simple test to determine what/where the fault is. Please try all of the above and then post back with the results if you need further assistance.

Regards,
BElectric
