How do I uninstall XP with error 1386.asms to install vista

1.change another Installation CD of Windows XP service pack 2 or install Windows Vista.
2. if any track of your CD is corrupted, then this type of error comes.
3. sometime if your hard is not formated correctly, then also some fatal error comes.
4. when formating always do full format, donot do quick format.

Well i Suggest That You Should Install Windows XP On This System Because The Configuration Of Hardware Would Mess Up Everything In Case Of Windows Vista Installation..

There are 2 ways of UNINSTALLING WINDOWS VISTA


1) Using MS-DOS PROMPT and for that u need to have good expertise with the MS-DOS so that u can RUN DEBUG COMMAND on the hard drive

2) Method Is Easy .. it is to install WINDOWS XP and after its installation WINDOWS VISTA would be uninstalled

Temme if u need HELP in re-installing WINDOWS XP....

The problem is some files in your installation cd cannot be read anymore.

Options:

1. When the error appears try to redirect the wizzard to the directory of your CD ROM and locate the file.

2. If you have back up copy of your xp cd use it to replace the xp cd you are installing when the error appears.

3. If you have a copy of your xp installer on your hard disk re direct the wizzard to that directory.

your cd is bad...do you have another cd for your installation of your windows....

Upgrading from Windows XP to Windows Vista :
Before upgrading your OS from Windows XP to Windows Vista, delete / uninstall all the Windows XP driver software first; then, upgrade the OS to Windows Vista and install Vista driver software.
If you have already upgraded your computer's OS to Windows Vista :
Delete / uninstall the Windows XP drivers before installing Vista drivers.

do install the vista only, coz xp could not recognize the sata hd, it gives the blue screen error, if u want to install xp otherwise, install sata divers from the supplied disk with computer.

IF U HAVE ADDITIONAL THEMES OR SCREEN SAVER INSTALLED IN UR COMPUTER FIRST UNINSTALL THEM AND THEN TRY TO INSTALL VISTA TRANSFORMATION PACK

no there aren't any drivers, but the problem you will have is that the bios is updated to suit Vista and installing XP will cause problems with components in the notebook.

My advice is to keep Vista if you havent already uninstalled the operating system, but you will notice that your hard disk has two partitions, install XP on the other partition and have a dual boot notebook, if you have uninstalled then lend a friends copy of Vista and use your own instalation product key code on the underside of your notebook and re install.

Hi, It would seem that your CD drive is not reading completely your installer CDs hence you can not complete the install procedure. Your best bet may be to temporarily replace with a known good/operation until installation has completed. The 1386 should read I386 and is normally in D:\ which is the CD drive and is a folder in the Win XP installer. Good luck and kind regards.
