My Dyson DC59 Animal, S/N FN9-US-FJR8040A, stopped working. Hung it up to recharge and now, when I hit the button, a red light flashes on/off for about 30 sec.

When I plug it in to charge the blue charging light comes on for 2 or 3 minutes then goes out and charging stops. Have I blown the charger by constantly leaving it plugged in? Please help!

Hi Alvina, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC59 will display a blue indicator light at the base of the hand grip while the machine is taking in power. The light will go out when the machine is fully charged. DC59 will take 3.5 hours to charge fully when the charge is completely depleted, but it will take less time than this if there is still some charge remaining on the battery after use.

Please note, the machine's intelligent control software is designed to ensure the battery only takes in enough power to recharge, and to keep itself topped up. It's safe to leave the machine connected to the charger at all times when not in use - the machine is designed to be stored in this way, so it's always ready to go when you need it.

From the information you've provided, I'm not clear on whether or not you're finding your DC59 works as normal once the blue charging light goes out, or whether it's not working at all. To make sure everything is correct, please get in touch with our experts directly. We'll be happy to talk you through some simple diagnostic checks when you have your machine easily to hand.

You can reach the Dyson Customer Helpline by calling 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) 1800 239 766 (AU), or 0800 298 0298 (UK).

We'll look forward to speaking with you.

Why isn't it charging?

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sorry to hear your DC59 doesn't seem to be charging. If you're recharging your machine in the docking station, make sure the end of the charger cord is correctly and firmly inserted into position. If the charger cord is not correctly installed, it may not be making effective contact with the machine. In normal use, DC59 should recharge from depleted within 3.5 hours.

If you're plugging the charger cord directly into the machine and have continued to experience this issue, please get in touch with the Dyson Customer Helpline directly when you have your machine to hand. Our experts will be happy to talk you through some simple diagnostic checks - and if a replacement part is needed, they can confirm if this is covered under your Dyson warranty.

You can reach us by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

My dc59 doesnt work green light flashes when you press start button

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

A green light flashing when you try to use your DC59 could mean the battery has no power. If you're confident it's been allowed to charge for at least 3.5 hours, it's possible that the charger cord isn't connecting correctly with the machine itself, so no power is reaching the battery. This is more likely to occur if you're recharging the machine in the docking station, and the charger cord isn't correctly positioned.

We're happy to help you check for and resolve this - if a replacement part is needed we can also confirm if this is covered under our 2-year parts and labour guarantee. When you have your machine to hand, please give our experts a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

Why is my Dyson DC59 is empty but the max light is on and it won't work

it would mean that your air flow is gone or you have a plug in it some where about 90 % of all bag full or max light work on air flow
