Yes, that means it's working, Basically, the lower the humidity setting, the more moisture it removes from the household air. The higher the setting, the less it will remove and run less, too. Once the water reservoir or "bucket" as most folks call it, is full the unit will shut off automatically and the bucket FULL light will come on. You will need to remove the bucket from the front of the unit and empty it (I prefer emptying it in the bath tub or shower). Then carefully replace it the unit, so that it triggers the safety switch and the FULL light goes out and the unit will restart automatically, if necessary.
You didn't list the model number of your Danby Dehumidifier. But all Danby units work pretty much the same.
