SOURCE: top part of singer 3116 is squeaky

Oil the top of the needle bar very lightly and the moving parts of the takeup lever, if you still have it then I would suggect taking it in for a check before it costs a lot of money

SOURCE: Singer Simple 3116, tension way to tight even when

Call Singer at 1-800-4singer customer service, if you play with the tension and don't know what you are doing, you can mess it up big time. Watch the dvd that came with your machine and read the manual

Installing reverse lever for Singer Simple 3116

How To Reverse Stitch On A Singer Sewing Machine Correctly

Step 1. Press the reverse button

  • Refer to the Singer manual of the specific machine you have
  • Please find the button with the U-shaped arrow, typically at the front of the sewing machine, or check your manual for where it's located
  • Press the reverse stitch button and start sewing

Step 2. Start sewing

  • Hold the material as the sewing machine sews backward and stop it manually by taking your foot off the pedal
  • Deactivate the reverse stitch function by pressing the button again
  • Be careful not to hit the thread plate to avoid bunching
  • If you accidentally press the wrong button, turn off the Singer sewing machine and turn it on again to reset

My Singer 3116 sewing machine will not sew. I try to turn the wheel and it will not go the right way but will go like in reverse.

if the machine is turning it will sew
what may be your problem is that the sewing direction is in the reverse stitch position
if that is not the case , take it in to a sewing machine repair shop for a proper diagnosis

Where can I find a power cord for singer simple 3116 sewing machine?

It looks like your power cord and foot pedal are incorporated into one unit, and you'll have to replace the foot pedal to get it. You can get it for $30 at sewing parts online, http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/singer-3116-simple-sewing-machine-parts.aspx?gclid=CLTXmrLC18ECFeHm7AodBioADg, and you can also get them from eBay by doing a search on Singer Simple 3116.

Reverse Lever isn't working...

Most likely the "dogs" inside the lever are broken off. Oil/grease on the metal rod cause chemical attack to the plastic lever and the "dogs" break. Singer should know to degrease this rod before assembly.

Singer simple 3116 will not reverse

Sounds like spring or something disconnected from the lever. Take it in to your dealer or look at yourself carefully.

Singer 3116 won't go into reverse

here is a download for your manual

http://safemanuals.com/user-guide-instructions-owner-manual/SINGER/3116-_M

pg 32 talks about sewing in reverse sewing.
but doesn't give much on trouble shooting other than hold the lever while sewing. If that's not the case, then I think your feed dogs are the issue. check your feed dog drop. pg 9 part 12

If you think the reverse lever is sloppy, professional action should be taken, (take it in to be repaired under warranty?)

I hope this was helpful.
