I think it's a power supply problem.
You could hunt around for the board, or Shop Jimmy do stock all what you need.

I'm having a problem with my Philips TV 55pfl3907/f7. It used to turn itself off then back on. Now the picture doesn't work but the sound does. The screen is not completely black, it has a glow to it

Sounds like T'Con board fault. Please contact the authorized service center for Philips in this case. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
Faults & possible causes to LCD screen are given with illustrations. You can get an idea about the fault to an extent.

Phillips HDTV 42PFL3603D/F7 screen is grey (after phillips power-up logo shows) when plugged in, will not power off, remote led blinks when used, but no change.

These blinks (flashes) are fault indication. By the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside the TV. Count the blinks occur at one time switch ON, carefully. Do it once again, and make sure about the number of blinks. If the flashes are continious, non-stop, the main system control IC should be suspected. If you wish to get more details, check the site linked here. It has blinking codes detail to many brand TVs. Phillips 409fl7505d/f7

I once had a problem with a Phillips tv.It was less than one year old and one day ,all of a suddenm a black screen came up.I elarned it was called the "black screen of death" and that other people had gone through the same thing.Someone online had actually written to Phillips and they had gotten a new TV form them,so I tried the same thing and amazingly,Phillips gave us a new TV and came and took the old one.The enw worked fine. So you may have a lemon on your hands.Unfortunately, I do not have the letter I sent to them but the replacement they sent me was part of their "Rapid Replacement" program. This wa sin 2008 so I'm not sure if they still ahve it but it may be worth a try.

Magnavox 42 LCD 42mf438b/f7 turns on/off by itself

Mine was doing the same thing. Update the firmware and it fixes the problem. Updating the firmware is done by downloading the file to a thumb-drive from the phillips product support page then plugging in the drive into the side of your television and turning it on. See your manual for slightly better instructions.
