you either have a bad water valve,bad ice maker,also when was the last time you changed the filter?if it has a whirlpool ice maker you can pop off the cover on the ice maker,jump out the ice maker by sticking a jumper wire into the t and h,let it run for 15 to 20 seconds and pull the wire out,the ice maker should keep spinning,if it does go all the way around the water should come in when the white arms are at 11 oclock,if the water doesn't fill into the ice maker you can jump out the water valve from the ice maker,it says to jump it out from v to n but i jump it from v to L,if it fills with water the ice maker is bad,no water the valve is bad.you have a double valve,one for the dispenser and one for the ice maker but if one fails you have to change out the valve and it comes with both.next time send the full model number off of the machine and i can look it up and see what valve and ice maker is on your machine,when you find out what the problem is,call your parts store,give them the model number and they'll sell you the correct part.http://fixitnow.com/wp/2010/09/05/whirlpool-built-modular-icemaker-wiring-diagram-and-test-points/ copy and paste and it will show you how to jump out the ice maker.
If you look underneath the icemaker module, you should see a reset or test button. Press it once and it should do a complete cycle. Once activated, the icemake normally continues on from there. If no action takes place when you have pressed the test button then replace the module.(a little complex to repair at component level as there are many variables ie. sensors: drive motors:limit forward and back etc.).
this is a test, if its a new er model, turn maker switch off for 15 seconds,turn on move the flap arm below the maker bak and forth 3 times waite 3 min, this should reset maker
Check to see whether the ice maker has been turned
off. Here's how to check. Look for a wire along the right side of the
ice maker that looks a bit like a coat hanger. If this wire is in the
raised position, the ice maker is turned off. On some units you simply
lower the wire to the down position to turn the ice maker on. On others,
you lower a small red plastic lever to lower the wire. If the wire is
in the proper position check the freezer temperature, it should be
between 0-8 degrees Fahranheit. If it is warmer than 10-12 degrees, the
ice maker may not produce any ice. Check your door seals and thermostat,
repair/replace as necessary.
Most likely the dual water control valve on back is defective on the side where it opens to fill ice maker. Lets test the ice maker first by filling with tap water and turn switch on. If after water freezes it cycles and dumps and does not refill then the dual water control valve will need replaced. -AND the ice maker bowl should fill with water
-IF either DID NOT work, call 1-800-GE-CARES for ice maker replacement. A

Hello, Check the water fill tube to see if it may be frozen. It's a tube about 3/8" wide that hangs over the tray. Squeeze the tube and if it is hard, it"s frozen, if it is soft, you have another problem. If it's hard, take a hair dryer and thaw out the tube and you ice maker should be fixed. I hope this helps.
