Shark iron leaks water from the bottom of the body where the power cord come out. could it be a crack in the holding tank? Is there a way to fix it,or will I need to purchase a new iron?

My house has a water system so the water is purified. I fill water to the fill line. All other functions work on the shark iron.

It is hard to assess what would be the cause, but I think your diagnosis may be correct, of a possible crack, or a tube has come loose. You tube has instructions on how to disassemble and iron if you are up to it and have the tools. Then you'd have to order a replacement part, and re-assemble. I'd just go to walmart & buy a new iron! But that's me! :)

The power cord on my Shark model #G146810 is loose and doesnt heat, can this problem be fixed?

Hi!!
It should be an access plate fasten by a couple of screws right below the power cord, remove them and fix the cord's terminals/contacts or the cord itself.
Good Luck!! A HELPFUL - 4 THUMBS - rating for this solution would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for using FixYa.

Was using my Shark x-tended steamburst Euro-pro iron G1490 and it turned off and won't turn on

I had the same problem. The repair took less than 15 min. I opened the bottom of the iron and discovered what appears to be a design flaw on the cord holder/fastener. The holder is wedged so tight that it pinched the cord wire almost in half. I removed the cord, cut it off at the pinched spot and reinstalled. I also put a small piece of rubber onto the part of the holder that is made onto the body of the iron. In addition, I rotated the fastener cap so that the smooth side of it is against the cord.

My shark steam iron is leaking when ironing

It is quite possible that this is a defect in the shark G1490F... I had the same problem and it was a crack in the water holding tank caused by tightening the two front screws (hidden) that hold the tank to the base... It seemed fine at first but after a full heating it developed a crack where it had been weakened when it was assembled... I suggest returning it or if warranty is up , throw it away and get something else..

Will not hold water after dropping

you can take it to a repair place, the screws on the bottom are not designed for the everyday person to open them. a special screwdriver is used. But I do think if it is not holding water the tank has been cracked somewhere. I would be cutting the end of the cord and binning it.

I would recommend a Phillips Steam iron GC4430. It is comfortable to hold and light enough that you hand/wrist/arm doesn't get sore. Price is quite good, under 200. You can also purchase extra warranty on this item.

Leaks water out all the time. Clothes wet or rust marked.

OMG, how frustrating to be ironing and water shoot out everywhere from this iron....So, to remedy it, I have turned off the steam, use it as a dry iron, and have a spray bottle handy to spray as I iron...love the feel of this iron, but hate the water everywhere...
