There is no "voice" on my Garmin - Only had it 2 weeks! Volume is on High.

Select another voice - if nothing upload a new voice such as the free voice:

Select this voice and plan a route. If still nothing check the basics such as volume or volume mute.

First press the speaker symbol and check that the volume is not down fully or that the mute box is not ticked. If it is press the mute box to untick it or increase the volume. Otherwise follow the instructions below.

1. Press Tools, then press Settings (or Locale on some models), then press Language. You will see a bar for Voice. Press Voice and select a different voice. If this doesn't solve the problem it's most likely because the voice file has become corrupted. To replace the corrupted file.
2. Download webupdater from http://www8.garmin.com/support/collection.jsp?product=999-99999-27 and connect your satnav to your computer. Install webupdater and your satnav will look for updates. After it's finished it will give you an option to download voices. Click the ones you want and press next. The voices selected will be downloaded to your satnav.
When you have removed the satnav from the computer you'll need to select a voice again as described in para 1 above.

1. Check the volume by touching the speaker symbol on the main screen and ensure that it's not muted. If it is Mute will be ticked. Touch it to untick it.

2. If mute is not ticked and the volume is turned up touch tools on the main screen and then settings, then language and select a voice and then OK. If the voice file is not corrupted it should work then.

3. If the file is corrupted you'll have to go the garmin website and if you haven't already registered the satnav you'll have to do so. Download webupdater from http://www8.garmin.com/products/webupdater/howtoinstall.jsp Follow the instructions on the website. Then click Next, Tick the voices you want on your satnav. Click Next and then Finish. Now you have the voices downloaded you can repeat the instructions in para 2 above to select the voice you want.

Try resetting the unit Tools > setting> restore> yes Did that work?

There is a software bug Garmin has been working on for a while. The voice file changes to none. To fix go to tools, settings voice and change to desired language. Sometimes the language files get messed uo and need reloaded from webudater, this can be obtained from www.garmin.com. The latest Garmin Software version is 4.80

Go back into your tools and settings and re select the voice of american jack and see if it comes back on.
I lost the voice 2 days ago while on a trip from tenn. to florida and this fixed it. we never shut off the voice but somehow while using bluetooth or FM trans it shut off voice transmiting.

Go to tools-settings-language-voice and make sure it is set to "American English-Jack (TTS) or to American English-Jill (TTS)
