My lg 42ln5300 TV screen flashes white bars real guild on startup then the screen goes black.

i have a 42" lg hd tv that for some reason has just started to have a 1" line down the center of the screen . we noticed this a few months ago but didn't know what to do . lately the tv has stoped doing this , mind you i checked every since and its seems to be fine , today i turned it on and the line has moved from the middle to 3/4 of the screen to the right -- so like in the middle the colours fade in and out of the line especially blues and oranges for some reason --

it seems to be a bad connection somewhere but I disconnected the ribbon cable and got a verticle line of snow instead of a blank line. the line is about 34 mm wide and starts 285 mm from the left edge starts on the Blue and goes to the Red pixels. so if they are 1mm wide that would be 34 bands of color.

I would sure like to figure out the solution to this one or I got a TV I need to throw away cause the o'lady is gonna bust my balls if I can't fix this!

There are two places to look for the problems, the backlight inverter board and the power supply. Look at the power supply first since it is easier to get to, look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc.

Go to menu and settings and look for OVERSCAN and set this to on and hey presto no more white lines no matter what ratio your in.
