Hi there :Did you already tried another power cable ?also tried another power source ? Try also another device on the same power source.I hope this information will help you.
With assistance from Canon I did a data print-out of my printer. If the "ROM" version in the upper left of page one comes up less than 1.08 you have the first stock of that printer that came out on the shelf and the sensitivity level of the fax is set too low causing the fax to interrupt voice calls. It can be repaired by a certified Canon Tech in your area or, if still under the one year warranty, Canon will send you a replacement printer. But they'll only send you a refurbished printer. The Canon repair Tech in my area couldn't guarantee the repair would be under warranty even though my printer is only 6 months old. Canon flatly refused to send me a new replacement, even though they openly admit the machine was defective when put on the shelf. My suggestion is to NEVER buy a Canon product again. They do not stand behind their product, even when they've messed up.
Here is a tutorial that will explain most of the basic steps to sharing your printer. It will walk you thru how to set it up.
With the Canon, MX700, on each machine you connect to the printer, you will have to have the driver CD. When XP asks for the drivers, just put the CD, and XP will find it drives it need. This whole process will go smoother, if you use a printer cable and not the USB. If you need the drivers, you can get them on the Canon site.
Good luck,
