What Can Cause A Brother Printer Won't Print Black?

There are many situations that can prevent your Brother printer from imprinting in dark. Here is a portion of the primary reasons, including a couple of things to check before escaping with the circumstance. Keep in mind that issues will quite often start when another cartridge is introduced. Try not to accuse the cartridge as it is NEVER the cartridge which is to blame despite the fact that this is the point at which the issue may have first showed up.

1. Watch that the "Breather Tape" on the highest point of the cartridge is completely evacuated.

The breather tape or some of the time alluded to as the transportation tape MUST be evacuated before introducing the cartridge. On the off chance that this isn't evacuated when the ink remains vacuum fixed in the cartridge and it won't turn out under any conditions.

2. Ensure that you introduce another cartridge a long time before it runs dry

At the point when your printer begins cautioning you that the Black cartridge is getting Low and should be supplanted it's OK to continue printing for some time yet not for a really long time. I realize that we as a whole need the most from our cartridges yet on the off chance that you print excessively long and the ink runs exceptionally low, at that point you will begin bringing air into the print spout.

At the point when the air begins to get into the spout or the lines setting off to the spout then the printer will quit imprinting in dark. It may not completely stop and you may just get lines through the printing. This demonstrates a portion of the spouts is blocked however not every one of them.

Additionally when you print with a close vacant dark cartridge then the air going into the print spout will begin to dry the ink that is as of now in the spout. On the off chance that you keep on printing like this for an extensive stretch of time then you may even forever harm the printhead. It's sort of like running a vehicle for a really long time without coolant in the radiator.

There have been numerous articles expounded on staying electrical tape over the little window at the front of your Brother cartridges with the goal that you can continue printing and the printer at that point can't tell if the cartridge is come up short on ink. We've all don't this previously yet given me a chance to reveal to you it WILL in the end slaughter the printhead on the off chance that you continue doing it sufficiently long.

3. Utilizing low-quality conventional ink cartridges

Sibling inkjet printers, similar to some other printer brand utilizes explicit inks in their printers intended to perform accurately with their very own machines. Because of the enormous accessibility of nonexclusive cartridges, there is an immense distinction in quality between one conventional ink and another.

On the off chance that the thickness of the ink isn't right and like the Brother inks then different issues can happen. The ink needs to stream at the right rate and furthermore should be detailed to NOT CONGEAL or dry excessively quick. Printer inks really contain different synthetic concoctions that keep the ink from drying. This doesn't impact them drying on the genuine paper however it prevents it from drying out in the printer itself.

At Ink Hub, we have done stringent tests throughout the years to check the drying rates of different non-authentic inks. This has empowered us to give nonexclusive cartridges which we accept are the best available.

4. Sibling printers and CISS Systems

Sibling printers that have a CISS fitted are additionally in danger of printhead stopping up. This is because of a few factors, for example, low-quality ink being utilized, tanks not being blended regularly enough making dregs assemble at the base of the tanks or not being utilized frequently enough. These elements can cause dark ink or the hues not to print.

SOURCE: epson stylus C88 won t print color ink black is

If you have carried out 4 to 5 head cleans, waited about 8 hours and done another 3 or head cleans doing nozzle checks after each clean (as recommended by the manual) and there is still no improvement then you will need a third party head cleaning solution such as this one:

Other makes & brands are available just google "inkjet head cleaning solution" Hope this helps.

SOURCE: My printer Brother DCP 165C cannot print in black ink.

Your black printhead is blocked.
The printhead is deep inside the printer and has to be taken out by the expert and cleaned with the help of 'steam' and hot water. This is because not using the printer for a long time. or using low grade refill inks.
Please select new cartridge only if you are inserting a new cartridge or fully refilled cartridge. Otherwise use old cartridge option. Brother printer has a mechanical sensor and not the electronic chip in the ink cartridges.
After inserting the old used cartridge if you choose 'new cart' option it will show the "Full" ink. You can still print from the exhausted ink cart after covering the sensor in the middle by a piece of paper in emergency.

SOURCE: My Brother LC61, bought in

This is common problem with Brother Printers. I am going to assume you are using Non-Brother branded ink cartridges. Brother cartridges have a cleanser in the ink that most generic cartridges don't have. This in turn causes the jets to clog and not allow ink to pass through them. The fix is to go buy a couple of Brother cartridges and do a cleaning with those cartridges. You may spend some money doing this as a cleaning wastes a lot of ink, but it will clean the injection lines and fix the printer. You could also consider buying a new printer. I know this is not the answer you were looking for, but it is the true answer. I just bought a new printer due to this fact.

In case of a problem or clarification or my solution was insufficient, don't hesitate to post me a reply.

I have a all in one color LC61 printer, do all colors have to be filled to print blk only?

Greyscale is color not black only.
You can print in black and it will look grayscale only darker, printers are a pain to work with after a year has gone by, I can expect almost a half hour to print something with my $400 epson because one of the colors is out even though I never printed in the last year a colored page. I take the color cartirges out and they are empty, but I only print a page 2-3 times a year. I use the scanner all the time. Brother and epson have their print heads in the printer not the cartridge so make sure your inks are always have something in it or it will be miricle for the printer to last more than a year. Check colors every other week. One Epson printer only lasted 3 months because I never used it(print head dried up). Never use the set up with tubes running outside printer to small tanks of ink if you only use it occationally.

You need to call Brother at 1-877-brother and tell them your mfc is "missing black". They will tell you where to take it to get the print head replaced under Brothers' warranty. This is a VERY common problem and Brother will cover the cost to repair it.

By design, Brother printers stop all printing when one of the cartridges is empty. This is done to avoid cleaning cycles sucking air into the system, which could possibly damage the printhead.

Even if you print in black only by changing the print settings to "Mono" or "Grayscale" to avoid printing in color, cleaning cycles would still **** air from the empty color cartridge because they are programmed to clean ALL the ink nozzles. The only way to continue printing is to replace the empty ink cartridge(s).

After replacing the empty color cartridge, you could print in "Mono" or "Grayscale" to make better use of just the black ink.

I have a brother MFC 3240C. My Black ink stopped printing(initially printed horizontal faded lines and gradually got worse), the other colors were printing fine. I tried cleaning numerous time( 50 -100 times over 1-2 weeks ). Still no improvement. The way I print now is:
1. I go to Printer Properties
2. Change Media type from "Plain Paper" to "Inkjet Paper".
3. Change Quality to "Photo".

This takes a long time to print 1-2 minutes per page. However, this works for me since this is my Home printer and use it for printing only few pages here are there.

Good Luck
