I have a nextbook flex NKW16QC264 I PUT WINDOWS 10 on it when it was free but now want to take it out. how do I get to a boot menu so I can use FDISK and clear it all off? thanks jim

is your nextbook running Windows 10? chances are you got an adware on your laptop. I recommend reinstalling Windows and when you are done download and install Chrome browser because it has an extension called adblock plus which is free and you can use it to protect your computer from ads.

If this MBR mean, Master Boot Record, it's a DOS-alike thing.
You require a DOS or Windows 95 / 98 bootflop, containing the program FDISK (forgot if it was .com or .exe)

After booting you get the DOS-prompt which is text-based and looks like :

"A:>_" or "C:>_"

Now, in this case you enter the following: "fdisk /mbr"

So the DOS-prompt will look like :
"A:>fdisk /mbr" or "C:>fdisk /mbr"

Then you hit the ENTER-button at your keyboard and if DOS can find this fdisk-program, it will rewrite the master boot record of your harddisk.

If U have windows bootable CD boot it from an external dvd/cd drive and go to repair. and can use fdisk command to restore boot manager.

press F-10 at start up the select o/s if thAt dont work press F-8 select safe

Insert your Windows CD and follow the instructions.

Try and find a windows 98 boot disk and boot the system off of the cd and you can get to an A: prompt and you can go into fdisk that way.

Okay, heres what ya need to do.

Procedure:

1. Get Windows install disk(s).
2. Turn on computer with cd in drive, press F12 or F2 untill you get to the options that allow you to boot from the CD.
3. Delete all partitions after CD loads, then create new partitions.
4. Then continue on the installation and click next untill its done.

5. to make fdisk, put in a floppy drive after the installation, Go to My Computer, then right click on the floppy drive and choose create fdisk.
